Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e Dynamic Manual Fuji White

You don't need a rear plinth! You can fit any size of plate on the back of the D5. The only plate that will not fit is the 11 x 8". MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I drove from Hamilton to Inverness yesterday towing my caravan so I wasn't going overly fast , I saw 5 XC90 , several freelanders 1&2 , range rovers by the score , 3 Aston martins and 1 Disco 5 , for me that speaks volumes on how popular the D5 is. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

Not really a logical comparison considering the D5 has only been on sale since February 2017. Many customers have had their cars held up at factory and they are only now taking delivery.. Plus the D5 has had more than 20,000 units sold. That figure was from March 2017. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

In Hamilton there are 2 D5's (1 is never out of the garage for repairs, I've spoken to the owner) . Driving 170miles seeing 10,00's of cars , I say it's a fair comparison.. how many Aston's are on the road? Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

I think you will find that Cloak of Invisibility sales have rocketed in those parts - thoughtful and considerate Scots are buying em as pressies for all those new D5 owners, so folks don't have to look at those hideous harse ends...... Smile

One good reason for a tow bar and caravan attached!

Wales 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Mauritius Blue

Had a poke about in and around a New Discovery this morning while waiting for an oil change on my Freelander 2.

Haven't been sure about the design since first seeing it but I could probably live with the look, silly tailgate and all, just doesn't feel like a Discovery to me sadly.

I haven't driven one, though I have driven a few D4's in the past, but just siting in the new D5 the visibility feels terrible after the D4 and F2 - just cant see the corners at all.

The silly little platform in the boot area I wouldn't bother with, feels a bit flimsy and I didn't even try sitting on it. I could live with the one piece tailgate as that's what I am used to anyway.

Powered seats (top spec in the showroom) - no thanks, never had an issue folding them and just more weight and complexity from my pov.

As for the middle row seating, felt terrible feeling much to low, like sitting on a child's chair. Having been in the middle row of D4's at Eastnor a few times in the past don't remember them being so low feeling and the D5 is definitely much lower than the F2 or even the Disco Sport.

Having been a Discovery fan since 1989 I really want to like the latest of the family but sadly even if I was fortunate enough to afford one I think it would have to look elsewhere Sad

Saw another D5 yesterday on the same stretch of road that I saw a velar in East Kilbride, what dos that say ? Velar sales are through the roof or the D5 sales are bad as I said before. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

purplemadboy: You really don't like the D5 do you. Can't say I'm a fan myself but I have to admit that the numbers seen on the roads are increasing, I do lots of motorway driving mainly M1 & M6 and I see them every time I'm on either of these. People tend to be shocked by the new look of a vehicle but are more accepting as time goes on. This time next year I expect they will be everywhere, doesn't mean I will like them an more because of that though Surprised

TBH dennij I don't mind it apart from its boring looks , the inside is nice but at over £50k the car should have had to he same dash as the velar has as analog speedo and rev counter are so 5yrs ago. For me it's emperors new cloths .. look what it can do (90% will never push its limits) and don't look at what it looks like.
When I went to the preview of the D5 months ago I pointed out to the LR rep that the dash should have been digital he said you need to buy a RRS for that , I pointed out volvo has a digital dash at the same price as the D5 and now the velar has a fantastic looking dash with a cheaper starting price.
Granted I don't do motorway miles anymore so I don't see as much as you, I can only tell you guys what I've seen. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!
