England 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Auto Sumatra Black
Changed my Freelander to a Freelander.

Well I've had my FL2 for nearly 5 years and I decided to change cars. I've really enjoyed my car, although dissapointed at times with failing door latches, faulty fuel gauges etc I decided after looking at other cars to buy a newer FL2. Ive upgraded to a GS SD4, full leather, heated seats amongst other things. I picked the car up tonight and i'm really pleased with it. Ive found it different to my old TD4 but the new one is an auto and to me its a dream to drive!! I'm really pleased with the car.

United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Orkney Grey

I did the same last year - went from a manual 09 GS to a 64 plate SE sd4 auto. Really pleased with the upgrade and glad I didn't go for the DS. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I looked at Audi's, BMW's etc but the Freelander was value for money in my opinion. Having owned a freelander for nearly 5 years I've got a good idea of what can go wrong etc plus I've got a good LR trained indy mechanic who I know can sort out any issues.

As for the colour, well not my first choice (the wife liked black) but the car ticked all the boxes that I was looking for. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Scotland 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Mauritius Blue

You wont regret getting the SD4 GS auto, I switched (via a D3) from a TD4 Manual to a SD4 GS Auto, it is streets ahead of the TD4.
I'm not someone who feels the need for a vehicle with all the whistles and bells, which means I can usually afford something a bit newer with a lower spec. The GS has everything I need by way of its spec, and SWMBO loves the heated seats. Laughing

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Firenze Red

Also changed our very well appointed MY10 XS auto for a 63 plate HSE Luxe auto. It's a lovely car but with hindsight black leather might have been better than the white Very Happy

Must say though, that the DS Sport is growing on me and will likely be the chosen car when the current one goes to its next lucky owner.

Stick with my 11 plate or change to a 14

Nothing wrong with my trusty 11 plate Freelander 2 HSE TD4 but as its done 56000 miles now and maybe its time to change because the`re not making any more and I want a newer Freelander whilst I still can. I have driven a 2014 HSE TD4 with 22000 miles on the clock and liked it. I test drove an SD4 and the extra 40 horses didnt seem to make any difference. I prefer manual gearboxes.
My question is are things like the sat nav, radio and other gadgets better in the newer car? Those of you who have made this swop can you tell me it was worth it, or should I just run the older car into the ground and save 10K?
I like the command driving position so the Disco Sport is out.

I've cone from a SE 57 plate to a HSE LUX 13 plate and the sound system and sat nav are far better, if it's worth it I'm not sure but I don't think you'll be disappointed. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

Having owned both, the difference isn't that great and the satnav is still easily bettered by a decent TomTom or Garmin! The move from the nice rotary TR knob to a series of fiddly upward facing buttons (that fill with detritus in all but the most pampered cars) was a big backward step, although the column stalks and fog light switches are a nice improvement.

I'd get the 2014 on the grounds that it sets the clock back by 3 years and 34,000 miles and then run that into the ground; lightly used FL2's (especially high spec manuals) are going to be like rocking horse poo to find in the not too distant future. It certainly puts off the day when the only option from LR is a DS.

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Ipanema Sand

Well I still have my my10 and it still makes me smile when I drive off.

Best car I have ever had (and I have had some!) it does exactly what anyone could want, it's a comfy car, a van and tractor that pulls a 1.5 tonne caravan up hill and down dale all day, what more could you want. It goes anywhere you want it to and it does it with style and comfort. OK it might not have the latest on line connected stuff but I use my mobile for that anyway and you can't really use it when you are driving!

I will not be changing mine, lets face it, you can keep it on the road for quite a good number of years in repairs for 10k, I have spent just 85 on a new throttle body in 7 years! so that leaves just 9915 to go..........  MY2014 SD4 XS
