Alpine 6cd: deck error message

CD1 in my alpine unit was playing perfectly and the the "disc unreadable" message appeared. I ejected the disc which had what appeared to be small clear fluid drops on the playing surface.

The unit now won't change the position of any of the 5 remaining discs, sounds like it's trying to load the 1st disc constantly for a couple of minutes. Then it states "deck error".

Any thoughts on what the problem may be? Tried turning the ignition off and on but nothing changes.

Thanks, Chris.

BTW, it's a 2007 HSE if that makes any difference!
