Heater motor thrumming

Hi,
Need a bit of help again please from those in the know.

Continuing to thoroughly enjoy my new toy but noticed that at certain times, usually about 10 mins or so after getting going in the morning, the heater motor starts to thrum. Thus us on auto, increase or decrease the fan speed a bit and it goes away, corner hard left and it changes too!

So I start to assume miter bearings but them read about air con needing a recharge and a host of other possible issues.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Cheers
John

Hi, it's quite common as they get older. I think motor bearing runs dry on the air intake side. An awkward/expensive thing to replace.

I sorted mine with a spray of silicon oil. Search under "chirping noise under dash" I put a post on how I did mine there. Not that difficult but fiddly.

Mine stayed squeal free for 8,000 miles. Just redone.

Hope it helps. JGH99 Freelander 2 GS Stornoway Grey

Changing/removing the pollen filter may also change the pitch, well it did on a Fiesta we had once with the same symptoms. It was blocked solid! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
