Wood Effect Dashboard Trim

This has probably been covered before and I know isn't quite everyone's taste...

I have just purchased a rather bare-looking GS-spec (UK/RHD) model and am wondering if anyone knows where I can source just the three parts which run along the dashboard (above glovebox, key fob, and light switch area).

I don't really require a whole kit- even just the glovebox bit would do just to brighten up the interior a bit.

The finish I am after is the "wood trim" finish- not too fussed on the shade, but preferably walnut or darker.

I've seen LHD parts on ebay and suchlike, but not for RHD. It is the genuine parts I am after too- not like some of these 'kits' you see for sale.
Didn't I read on here somewhere that some members discarded the wood-effect trims for the aluminium or piano black finished trims?

I recently bought a kit from someone on GumTree that was described as LHD but was in fact RHD, so have the parts for under the key and the light switch surround. It also had 2 versions of the long strip for above the glove box.

If you want the strip, you can have it for the price of the postage from France or if you buy a LHD kit, I'll swap the 2 smaller pieces with you.

Could you get me a rough postage quote?
That may be worth considering- how much in total?

And do you have any photos of the parts?

I Don't see the point in ordering myself a LHD kit- they seem cheaper and more common on ebay etc.

Thanks. Smile

Postage would be 3€, the strip weighs nothing but it would need something to stop the postman bending it.

My point was that if you buy the LHD kit, I'll swap the RHD key and light switch pieces I have with you, otherwise I'll keep just those 2 pieces and you can have the long strip.

I got one of these for my daughter's FL2 and she loves it. Actual LR kit and LHD for your discussion above.

Just the strip will do, thanks. Smile
That alone will improve the look to my taste.

This kit is currently available on eBay:
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Land-Rover...2036408281

It says it is for LHD vehicles. "We're in danger, we've got to get out."
"What are you talking about?"
"I've been called a ponce."

It IS for LHD vehicles... ... I bought it !

But in retrospect - its only a bucnch of pieces of plastic- , you can buy a 'woodveneer' wrapping foil, and achieve the same
effect, possibly better since you can do more parts then the set entails... I bought some wrap and I consider to give it a try
with some removable pieces of trim... Idea [ Freelander 2 TD4e MY10 Sport manual. SVR badge engineered ] SOLD

I did think of that, but I want the genuine part purely for convenience as well as to look the part without going too OTT (matter of taste, I guess!)
I may not even use the radio/air con console surround trim yet.

Is it easy to fit without making a balls-up of it? I'm guessing the sticky backing is rather tough to shift once it's in place. "We're in danger, we've got to get out."

I see.

My kit has just turned up in the post.
The manual features lots of pictures but very little text instruction.

I see that packets of 3M adhesion promoter are included in the pack.

Any advice on how to use it?

What is in the other 2 sachets included in the pack? "We're in danger, we've got to get out."

After fettling around with a LHD kit this evening, I have established that the left-hand drive glovebox finisher part does NOT fit a right-hand drive glovebox.

On very close inspection, the edge of the glovebox tray nearest the centre console has a chamfered edge, whereas the edge nearest the door is much sharper.
These edges are reflected in the trim mouldings.

Also, the two glovebox finisher strips in the kit appear identical, but are NOT.
One is fractionally longer than the other- not noticeable until both parts are together- one fits inside the other. "We're in danger, we've got to get out."

I didn't fit it. The guy with the dealer who works on my cars said they are a pain. Since he could do it in 15 mins, time hence cost were not worth to risk any mishaps.. Rolling Eyes [ Freelander 2 TD4e MY10 Sport manual. SVR badge engineered ] SOLD

I should have warned you on that regard, but I thought the point of the LHD kit was to trade with RHD kit mentioned above...?

As you've found out, the kit is a precise fit. The reason for the two versions of long pieces are some markets have a faux woodish or other trim already fitted, and you need the slightly larger one to cover these. 2008 3.2L I6 Auto

Yes- I'm doing a swap, but it was worth a try!
At first glance, you could have assumed the glovebox piece would fit either vehicle.

My glovebox is an "un-trimmed" version with just the textured plastic finish.

Hopefully the swapped parts will fit once they arrive. "We're in danger, we've got to get out."
