2012 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black
Stop/Start now working with new battery

As stated previously I have just renewed the battery and now the stop/start is working again, there was no obvious sign of a faulty battery, first indications where stop/start not work and one off the rear electric windows would not close properly, it would close and then drop down, this is also working correctly now. Prior to removing the old battery the reading was 12.44 Volts which unless the battery condition was checked you would be unaware of a battery issue affecting the stop/start.

Just coming to grips with my recently bought 14 reg SD4 auto XS I am not sure that it has stop/start. The book says that it has but there is no "eco" button and it hasn't auto stopped on me yet. Any suggestions or views? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

No, its a manual. I think you need to go to a dealer and ask them?

Give your battery a really good charge. Then go out with everything (lights, A/C etc) turned off and see it auto-stops. It has to be below 4mph (stationary helps), in Neutral and foot off the clutch pedal.

As I've written before, the battery needs to be above a certain charge (no idea what that level is) for it to work. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

I nearly did buy a Hyundai but just couldn't go through with it. (partly due to an overly pushy salesman and his manager and partly due to his insistence that the car was made in North Korea - and I don't want to get a visit from Kim Jong Il's mates after what he did to his brother ! Shocked ).

On the stop start issue. My driver's manual say that it has an "eco" button but there isn't one in the car so perhaps I just don't have it. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Surely if there is 'stop start' there should be an 'Eco' switch that allows disablement.
My MY11 has, but maybe MY14 doesn't .... for some odd reason. Confused FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Could be that they don't want people to be able to turn it off any more. Maybe the switch was, at first, because they weren't confident in the technology and gave that option in case it went wrong. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Whilst I'm not sure about the FL2, my Brother's 2016 RR Sport has it and that certainly isn't a manual. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

RRS is a completely different architecture!

From topix:

Quote:
Introduced as standard in the diesel vehicle with manual transmission, the Stop/Start system is automatically activated each time an ignition cycle occurs. However, the driver can deactivate the system by pressing the ‘Eco’ switch in the fascia.

It goes on to describe the operation with the manual transmission only.

I am surprised that you've bought another fl2. From reading your other comments you had so many problems with previous LR that you wouldn't get another.
My fl2 is also a XS, it has stop/start eco and still functions with the original battery.
