New Freelander 2 owner - well about to be!

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of buying a Freelander 2. However, I am in a quandry. I am not sure whether to buy the petrol 6 cylinder version and or the 4 cylinder diesel version?
Rolling Eyes

I have a motorcar broker who is currently trying to clinch the deal and he more or less has. But nothing signed yet. I can do two trades. The petrol version a white car, with ebony interior for $1990 changeover. The diesel though will cost me $6590 to get into. Why? Changeover figure of $4290. But much to my dismay, they have no white cars in their range so I have to pay for metallic paint. $1800. $500 fee to transfer the car from somewhere in Australia.

I am not sure what to do and would appreciate some sound advice please? Smile

I am trading in a 320i BMW (advertised on Trading Post) due to my mother who is 84 and finds the car too low for her. Hence my reason for upgrading to the Freelander. She seems to fit in that fine. Slides in and out no drama's.

Liz

Depends on if money for fuel is no object I would say. The petrol is a lot thirstier than the diesel.

Go a diesel if you want to save money of fuel. But if you want more Zoom in your 4WD then got the petrol.

hi Liz, BMW 320i hey!? what year?

Coming from a BMW 320i you will most likely be more familar with the drive of the petrol, but will be using more fuel! Saying that, the Diesel is easy to like and you will love the range on one tank Smile

Which dealership are you dealing through? I know you are going through a broker, but should let you know I used to be in the motor industry and know the guys at both Austral LR and Southside LR very well.

Are you going for a brand new car? If you are not fussed, I know of a few demo models that the dealership would be willing to do excellent deals on. Just a thought.

In the end, drive each engine back to back and go with your gut feel.

Hi Andrew,

NOW you tell me. LOL

I have a 2008 BMW M sport. It's advertised on the Trading Post currently. Am about to remove the ad. Have spoken with both car yards. Austral and Southside Landrover and their deal was exi.

So all up via my motorcar broker I have ALMOST purchased a TD4 HSE 2008 model with metallic paint for $60590 brand new.

The car is coming from Toowoomba from Southern Cross Landrover. I have to make up my mind today as they are waiting for a transfer of funds. I think the diesel may well be the way to go. Smile

Would like to do what you have and trade into a new LR2 Td4 SE, but alas, budget does not allow at present. ______________________________
