Another "which towbar?" thread

I pick my 2007MY FL2 up on Sunday and plan to fit a towbar (and genuine electrics) before it goes in for a service. I tow three different trailers: an Ifor Williams livestock trailer; a low slung plant trailer; and a twin axle caravan – all with slightly different towball heights.

I'm thinking that a fixed flange towbar with a height adjustable drop plate might be the way to go, but a bit concerned that a) it might stick out too far, b) it'll mess with the reversing sensors, and c) which towbar to go for.

Any thoughts?

i have the fixed flange towbar, they have a 1" spacer to take the ball out beyond the rear bumper, i just fitted a MaxxRaxx bike carrier plate and that is an extra half inch, from above it doesn't look to stick out any further and the side looks to stick out like any other towbar

I think the dropper plate is the way to go Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

towbar choice

hi I have just fitted a removable swan neck tow bar yesterday to my FL2 sport le bought at a great price from Duckworths for £135 incl del. I called them back and asked if they did veh spec electrics and they duly sent me them for £140.
The bar was very easy to fit and the elec kit too following the instr provided. My FL is the sport le model and I did have difficulties cutting the bumper spoiler as this is not marked but the original fit bumper has marks to cut to on the underside when removed from the vehicle. The finished height to ball centre unladen is 17.5 inches from floor and being removable no banged shins either hope this helps Alan.

It might be worth checking http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/towbars/faq8.php for any legal issues with a drop plate.
