Hi, I will be replacing my 4 tyres very soon, currently have 235/60 R18

I am not too sure about tyre sizes and would like to make the wheels look more "meaty"

I do not use off road, so just use everyday driving.

What alternative sizes could I put on these wheels? 245/70 ? what effects would any change make?

I personally couldn't advise you as to which size to use but if you go too large, apart from throwing your speedo out, they could rub on the chassis/body/springs/brake pipes etc. On lock which, apart from being dangerous, is of course an MOT failure. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

If you go and have a look at the wheel/tyres you have on at present you will see theres very little room to do much as the suspension strut and spring platform is already extremely close to the tyre as it is so unless you go fitting wheel spacers and adjustable platform struts you cant increase the beefiness of the tyres very much, its hardly worth it I dont think, and then as said youre making the speedo inaccurate too so that ought to be recalibrated if its to read true??

General grabber At's are a good bet .

I have previously fitted 255 55 18 General Grabber AT tyres - they looked very "meaty", and I had no issues with tyre / body contact. That said, I know have 235 60 18 Grabber AT's on MY Discovery Sport, and they drive much better than the 255 55's did........ 

Another albeit probably more expensive option would be to swap your alloys too. On my HSE the wheels are 235/55 R19.

I have a similar issue in that the only tyre i can find for mine is the stock fit Continentals which according to the tyre spec are poor (E) in fuel efficiency and okay (C) for wet grip. The size is one that I have not seen other mention at 215/75R16.
I do mainly on-road so a mud tyre is not needed, but the Contis don't look meaty enough.
Can anyone make any recommendations (I don't want to have to change the wheels).

Slight change in size but nothing in toward, good spec, quiet and good looking ...

Just ordered a pair to replace the Contis as they have better stats.
If they work out, will get two more in the next few months to keep them the same all round.

I am running Nokian Weatherproofs but there is a Nokian AT available - Nokian Rotiiva AT.

It might be worth having a look at.
