Bluetooth question

Got factory fit Bluetooth in my FL2.
Just wondering if I can play my iPhone music through it. Question
Means I can keep my phone in its 'active' dash cradle without having to use it with the small jack plug. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

If you've got the 2011 GS like me then no you can't. Bluetooth is only for calls in our cars Sad Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental

Nothing can replace working steering wheel controls though. Learned to drive in 2011.

That item won't make your phone function hands free (if that's what you mean).
It's simply for streaming music from your phone.
Will be interesting to see if it operates through the steering wheel controls though. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

It won't work with the steering controls - that's what I meant in my previous comment. Only proper hard wired head unit replacements will work with that. Learned to drive in 2011.

i have the LR built in hands free for calls, which I know wont stream music etc

my question was if I have my connection to the hands free for calls, can I have a simultaneous Bluetooth connection to this device to stream music.

i.e. 2 active Bluetooth connections at the same time

Misunderstood Rog, will be interesting to see as I need my LR bluetooth available to take calls [apart from weekends & eve's].

Re steering wheel controls - the unit streams through 'aux' and therefore at least the volume should be adjustable through the steering wheel controls [which is what will matter to me].
I can always skip tracks direct on my phone as it'll be mounted in front of me in the active holder [whereas when plugged into aux, the phone sits in the cubby box and is inaccessible to do this].

Will update on all this once I get and use it.
Thumbs Up FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

There is a lot of confusion about Bluetooth, it was originally designed as a short range low level communication protocol to connect two devices in the same way that you can connect your phone to a wifi router. The problem is that there are other layers of application software required to use that underlying protocol and these have to match the devices. My daughter has a Renault Megane iMusic edition car which will play music via bluetooth from her phone but she can't make phone calls from it whilst my 2011 FL2 does the opposite.

Incidentally the name is based on the 10th century Danish King Harald Blatan shown below with his phone and laptop on a stone carving. You would have thought they would have got it sorted by now.

5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

my Insignia could handle a single Bluetooth connection for calls and streaming, complete with album art and caller ID picture if set up on the phone. It was an excellent system to be fair

the parrot kit I had fitted in my last FL2 GS also managed calls and streaming on a single connection.

but it would be interesting to see if this device will connect and stream at the same time as having the phone connected to the car.

guess its dependant on the phone being able to handle 2 simultaneous active connections

I have a MY2010 XS so although I can use the phone hands free I have to stream music from my phone via a cable to the 3.5mm jack socket. However, I did buy this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00VV4T...ge_o02_s00

which allows me to change tracks easily without taking my eyes off the road. My phone (iPhone) will allow more than one bluetooth device to be connected (I'm sure most phones will be the same) so you should be able to have the phone connected to the car for hands free calls and also have it connected to the BT streaming adapter mentioned above (and in my case also have it connected to the key fob for changing tracks).

Well got the unit through and wow it's great.
Streams the music from my iPhone whilst sat in its charging cradle.
Steering wheel volume controls work with it, but to move tracks on you need to do that on the phone - but no big deal.
And, it still works with the LR Bluetooth - when making receiving a call, the music automatically pauses.

Potential downside could be, as you need to charge it before use, I think you'd need to switch it off when not being used.
However, not sure on that and don't know what life you'd get with a charge yet.

But all in all, very impressed for just a £5 spend...... well worth it. Thumbs Up FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-
