Might be even cheaper post Brexit, I think currently there is a 10% tarrif on them. I took the decision to put a large amount of my own cash into a Jap car, and apart from 20/30 minutes having the oil dilution ratio checked , the total number of issues I've had in 10 months , 10,000 miles is Zero !

* the dealer did a full FOC oil change at the same time just to make sure that the levels were just so Thumbs Up

My mate has put 50,000 miles on a Nissan Cashcow diesel 1.6 manual, with part time 4x4 , including more off-roading (down to fishing beats) than most SUV owners will ever do, and it's coped admirably , returned 50 mpg and never missed a beat . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

2023 Toyota Hilux invincible X 2.8 Auto .

Anyone had a good look at a Hyundai Tucson?

It's cheap and there is a reason for it, it has 4/5 seats like an Ewok and a low roof line, it is a car with AWD, the Kia Sportage has better stability software, I liked the old Sportage not the new one, both vehicles are limited to 6 speed boxes even with auto, that tells a story.

My last car was a Tucson (55 plate). I Liked it. A few problems ( water ingress into passenger foot well, new clutch at 45000 miles) but all sorted under warranty and not questioned. My air con packed in after 6 and half years so I bought FL2. Interior plastics were a bit cheap. The new Tucson looks goo I think - better than the IX35

Well, time to leave again. The LR dealers as always want all and give nothing!
So, going to give the Ford Edge a go, liked them from when I first heard they were coming over here. I'm not expecting the off road ability but then again, I never went off road Rolling with laughter

The Volvo's not a bad call Thumbs Up

It's still available with their wonderful, 5 cylinder, D5 engine (a proper Volvo engine - pre dating even Ford) and even designed pre Geely too! Very Happy

This is definitely one of those "last chance to buy" moments.

Volvo isn't too bad although dated now, those discounts shown are rubbish, you can get £8000 off list with Broadspeed on those models, last ditch attempt by a stealer to make your wallet suffer from less gravity.

Quite right Taz, when I packed in work last year, the fleet manager arranged for me to have the same discounts if I wanted as he got on the fleet list. I think it was 22 or 24% On the XC, about £8000 on a top spec car. It's a lovely car inside, excellent quality build, but everyone at work who had a Volvo complained that the published economy and real life were massively different.

I considered the XC 60 very seriously, but the engines and autobox like the FL2 are very last decade, on the plus side £500 gets a very impressive warranty and service package , Don't know if that's still available. ?

Broadspeed offer trade prices, by directing buyers to a certain dealer, and you pay them £250 ish for that service. I used their written quote as a lever with two local Subaru garages, one said it was "rubbish and no one could supply such a low price"the other said," if I match it can I have the £250 service fee" ?
