Rear spoiler sucks?

My FL2 has the rear spoiler fitted at the top of the door and I can't get over how quickly the whole rear door gets covered in filth. So I'm wondering if it's the spoiler that is the culprit in causing too much vacuum behind the car. Can those of you without the spoiler (if there are any out there) comment on how quickly your car get covered?
I do like the look of the car with the spoiler but crickey, I'm getting through some screen wash! Shocked
Cheers. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Mine does not have one and also quickly gets covered, the thought is it helps keep the muck off!

I removed my factory fitted rear spoiler and it got dirty just as quick. I also have the body styling pack fitted which results in the car having a much deeper rear bumper and it still got filfthy with mudflaps on her. Verdict it's simply the design of the car Wink MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I didn't think the purpose of the spoiler was to keep the rear clean. Isn't it purely decoration?

You will never keep the rear completely clean. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Well, spoilers are supposed to improve aerodynamics. I would have thought it might have had an effect on the suction. I was trying to ascertain in which direction. i.e. better or worse. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

My last car didn't have one from new, when I did fit one it made no difference, a spoiler doesn't really have any aerodynamic at legal speeds.
It just makes the car look better Thumbs Up

I know from changing screens by a couple of inches on a motorcycle that any plastic lump alters the air flow in its vicinity. But you're probably right that it's more styling exercise than anything else. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Anything placed in the airflow will alter it, there is a lot of misconception around car spoilers, the 'vast' majority are cosmetic, the ones that do have any effect will reduce lift and are are not designed to produce downforce.

Why in Nuts picture are the people seem to be running away from the car Laughing

Carry a small brush from a dustpan. As soon as you get to your destination it takes 30 seconds to dust off the back of the car, if it's dry weather. My old hatchback got it's fair share of dust & have transplanted the brush to the new car!
