TPMS Warning Message

First warning message popped up today and I was a little confused!
Amber Triangle, Amber TPMS Symbol - solid and picture of all location and to check tyre pressures.
Is this what you other guys get when there is a tyre deflated?
One tyre was low, rest were fine.
From the manual I was mistakenly? Believing I was going to get message of which tyre(s) was requiring attention.
Message disappeared as soon as I inflated tyre.

TPMS was only made available on the Freely in the UK for the MY15 models. So I cannot help much I'm afraid. The full fat only indicates the tyre that is low which is what I would have assumed.

Cool, thanks for that Thumbs Up
I just need to know if this is the normal message for the Freelander 2.
Reason being is that whilst I was in CCF we looked at the TPMS field options and there is no less than 38 different settings for the TPMS system.

So It may be very possible to display more than what the std FL2 does. I know the BCM measures temperature, acceleration aswell as pressures already.

Again, I need to spend more time with it but in the meantime if someone else with TPMS can
Confirm that this indeed is the standard warning message then we can go from there! MY15

Ok, no replies from anyone on here so decided I would dig a bit further.
Put the spare on to see if I could get a different message and whallah!!!
Not what I was expecting.
TPMS Fault!

So visit to LR has revealed that sensor number not been entered into vehicle - note all other sensor recorded other than spare which has blank code entry, thus when put as a running wheel actuator couldn't identify/wake up and RF receiver couldn't read and throws up TPMS Failure.

Off to get tyre retailer to break bead and photo Tyre pressure sensor identification
number to enter into TPMS system.

Today got the spare tyre bead broken and pic taken of TPMS sensor identification code.

Next, trip back to LR for a diagnostic session on SSD to enter in the spare tyre sensor identification code which should be done by dealer at PDE.

Apparently TPMS fault was triggered when I put spare on as the spare tyre TPMS sensor identification code was never entered.

The TPMS is now covering all wheel positions including the spare.

Checked today by letting individual tyres down and alls well!

Running wheels message stays on unless you manually cancel using steering wheel control but orange triangle remains.

Spare Wheel message is slightly different as it only comes on each time you start the car and extinguishes after a time.

Dealer was pretty sure that very few, if not mine being the only one in Australia having TPMS as there was only 1 shipment of MY15 Freelander 2's to Australia and in Australia the TPMS was a $620 option, Whoohoo! Rolling with laughter

The display screen is also correct, on the FL2 it doesn't tell you which running tyre is deflated, just to check all positions.
But as there is no less than 38 other options within the TPMS field in CCF then anything is possible, but I'm happy with this system atm, have other things which are far more exciting.
In the event of a sensor failure, battery, whatever the screen will tell you exactly which sensor position has failed. This leads me to assume that the display can tell you more if a different CCF option is selected. MY15

I have TPMS on my 15MY SE Tech.

I had it come up with a message a few weeks back and I'm reasonably sure that it showed and stated the wheel with the issue, then the message changed to check all tyre pressures.

It'll be the weekend before I could let some air out of one tyre and try it.

You've got me wondering about the spare now!!

Great BRD, that be good Thumbs Up
As i said earlier there are 38 other options for running the TPMS system in CCF so it may be possible to display tyre pressure, temp etc. MY15

BTW - TPMS will only monitor a full size spare so if you have a space saver or no spare then the TPMS is turned off for the spare location. It can be activated in a normal SDD session without the technician having to access CCF though. MY15

Although there are umpteen different TPMS options, in fact only three of them were ever used on the Freelander 2 out of the factory.

As it turns out the Freelander 2's (LR2's) sold in the US have all had TPMS in them since the first models in 2006/2007, because of US regulations requiring TPMS on SUV's (anyone remember the Ford Explorer Firestone saga?)

The US LR2's run a different TPMS setting than those in the UK, the 2015MY ones i've checked anyhow, which would probably explain why it doesn't identify the particular wheel if pressure is low, apart from the spare.

The TPMS in Stu's car is currently set to the USA TPMS mode. For whatever reason the mode used on the UK 2015MY cars was not available to choose, it just wasn't there to select, unless it has been named differently in the file. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Ok, I suppose that's the sort of craziness we should expect.

I'll still check out what mine does. I've got a full size spare so I'll check that also.

Bry.

What happens when you carry a second spare out in the sticks? Does the system have a coronary! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Haha, no, that's the reason why it has stored codes as if someone else was to rock up at a set of lights besides you, also with TPMS, the system could read those also and Infact it does/can. But because the system has already allocated specific codes to the cars wheels it rejects the data being received.
There was no provision for entering in any more than 5 codes for the vehicle on SDD. It wouldn't cover the tyre whilst being stored but if that wheel was out on as a running wheel and has a TPMS sensor i guess it would learn the code and be covered whilst being a running tyre.
The reason my car spat the TPMS dummy was that initially the spare had not been entered. Bit hard to explain, the LR system is quite sophisticated and unlike a lot of other manufacturers it does cover the spare and is able to learn if tyres have been rotated/spare being used.
This is a small exert from the service manual.

mmm... interesting that it says the system is looking for different pressures/thresholds between front & rear given the recommended pressures are the same.

And now I'd like to read the rest of the document.........
