Windows

When locking the vehicle, should the windows move to the closed position, if open?

Hold the lock button on the remote for a few seconds and the windows should close.

Similarly, hold the open button for a few seconds and all the windows will open - handy on a very hot day!

Not applicable to Australia.
Thanks to JLR Australia (Bless their little concerned hearts!!! Evil or Very Mad ) Global closing on all Australian Freelander 2's is disabled due to JLRA concerns a baby/kid will get decapitated and they'd get sued - well we do feed our infants to dingo's you know 😡.
If you speak loudly enough whilst prospective new LR purchases are within earshot then they should be able to enable this for you as they did for me.
As I explained to the Service Manager, "I have no sprogs and unless you enable this feature I will stay until you do making sure I explain to as many people my displeasure"!
It worked, I now have global opening/closing.

It's not only cars!

It gets better. 2018 windows must have a lock to stop the window being opened more than 12.5 cm if the window is lower than 1.7 metres with an outside drop of more than 2.0 metres so kids cannot fall out. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

It's not the kids I'm worried about. Some years ago I was hanging out the window to clean the outside & to do it properly takes about an hour & needs to be cleaned a couple of times a year! Then the neighbour starts vacuuming in her 90% see through underwear cleaning the floor without the wand, standing, & sometimes straddling furniture! The sudden surprise almost causes me to fall out, I can't look down, I get palpitations, it's a close shave, there is fur everywhere from her pussy, even though we have a ban on cats and dogs in our building. Even if I was cleaning inside our window it will be a OHS issue, but it's not a window safety problem. OHS needs to apply to translucent underwear, while vacuuming!

Next they will stop car windows being opened more than 12.5 cm so if someone accidentally slips out of the seatbelt they don't fall out the window! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Why don't they just fit what GM call " pinch protection " if there is too much resistance when the window is closing it opens.

Thinking about it again that's probably a non starter because it is a Land Rover and after a couple of years no one would be able to close their windows. Mine, Saab convertible

As suggested. after I unlocked the vehicle, I kept the button pressed for about 4 seconds, and the windows all opened. The same happened when I locked the vehicle.

Steve. Very Happy

Obviously in 2008 people had more common sense and the OHS departments Evil or Very Mad were still in the bowels of the management structure with the cleaners!! (No disrespect to cleaners!!!!)
........

Ok next question, what happens when you press your lock and unlock button simultaneously on the dash for 3 seconds???????

In the UK I Say the rear hatch will unlatch.
In AU .......???????...... I'm guessing nothing !!! Whistle MY15

same result, rear hatch unlatched, on the MY11 TD4 in country.

You want me to try it with 1 leg in the air and pinching my left nipple to see if there is a difference?
