Fault code P006a - Reduced Engine Performance

Anyone had this fault code which is correlation of the Mass Air Flow Sensor to the ECU?

If so, how was it fixed? Currently got this and the car is un drivable. If you reset5 the warning, as soon as you accelerate past 20000 rpm it comes back on and goes to limp mode...

Thanks

Have you tried changing the fuel filter? A while ago my wife's landy went into limp mode, but didn't throw up the same codes as yours. I remember the Landrover assist guy telling me sometimes a blocked filter can through up a maf code. There were no codes stored when I used me cheap d900 reader to check it first. I ended changing the filter again two weeks later myself, prob caused by a bad batch of Tesco diesel, around 3-4 years on. Never had this problem again.
Here's my old thread:-

I have not tried anything yet, but I would be doubtful on the fuel filter simply because it was changed not long ago and the fault code is specific on the correlation between air mass sensor and ecu. Have reset it 3 times and each time the same.
Also all the threads I've read relating to the filter have been intermittent and this is very permanent!

That said I will have a look tomorrow, a fuel filter is £22 so no great shakes. I was hoping someone may have had this exact code.
Thanks for the manual, that will be useful.

My exact same prob occurred two weeks later, car would only drive in limp mode then. Didn't use a code reader either, just changed the filter, issue never reoccurred. I realise your codes are different, just what the land rover assist guy had said, he changes a lot.
Hope you get it sorted, keep us posted. Landy has now gone.

I'll give it a go as soon as I can get one. I have been looking around and it appears this is a common issue in fords as well as LR and it could be down to a shared earth on the maf sensor, so will look at that tomorrow too.

Will advise when I get it sorted.

Ok, so not the fuel filter, according to the garage it is the MAF, el knackardo.

Now, here is it where it seems to get pointlessly complicated. It would appear the MAF is a ford part from the Transit that also goes in just about every car on the planet with a diesel engine. There is a Landrover part number though this does not appear on the actual MAF of LR019830, and the Ford part number that is on it is 8V2112B579AA. Whilst I can buy the latter with no problem with prices ranging from £32 - £180 some of the other numbers printed on the MAF seem to change, a lot.
There is always the ford number and also on the side is PBT GF40 but on the top there are 2 other numbers of H378D and 1AO1. Anyone know what these mean? I can find MAFs with H388E and 2D21?

I suppose what I am trying to find out is anyone tell me the exact part that is supposed to be in my 2012 Freelander 2? Thanks, Ant

**Answer to my own question, just use the ford part number.

Hardly surprising given that the FL2 is basically a piece of Ford engineering. Everything I have touched on my FL2 seems to have a FoMoCo sticker. Could explain why so many parts are underspecified. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Did you checked the ones from the PSA engine? 2.2HDI?
Maybe there is the same MAF sensor...

LE: Never mind... it seems it's not the same...
LE2: Let's hope the garage knows what it's doing - meaning they have read and correctly interpreted the live values from the MAF - as the same error is sometimes (for your post MY2010 car) thrown if the EGR is slightly malfunctioning....

New MAF installed and no difference at all.

Over £200 down and no closer.

Not sure what LE is but are you saying the EGR may be malfunctioning?

LE means "later edit".
And yes, the EGR may be malfunctioning...
The "air" that enters the engine is comprised by the fresh air and the recirculated gases through EGR.
For a specific set of conditions, the engine ECU opens the EGR by a specific amount and knows how much gases are recirculated. Therefore, it knows, by difference, how much fresh air the engine must draw.
But in your case, it seems that the air that enters the engine is not in the expected limits.
This means either the EGR is not circulating the correct amount of gases or the MAF is defective.
But the MAF can be easily checked by observing the MAF's live values and this is why I've said what I've said....

Ok, so still at square one. The garage have checked the EGR, its fine and now the engine light is on as well as a warning and light for failure of terrain response.

The garage are still saying all the computers are saying faulty MAF despite it already having a brand new one and also having the old one verified as working.

I don't know what to do, the bill is just going up and no one has a clue, the car is un drivable and stuck at the garage...
