England 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Zermatt Silver
Winter tyres.

Been offered a set of four 19" Evoque wheels with 235/55/19 Continental cross contact winter tyres on at what I think is a good price. Question is, Can these tyres be used all year round with no problems? They are marked as winter on the side wall and not into swapping between summer and winter tyres at all. If anyone uses these any advice greatly appreciated.

I ran our FL2 for 2 years on winters (Vredesteins) with no problems. In excess of 20k miles, and would have got through another winter, but picked up a great deal on a set of wheels and winters, so went back to summers. New wheels now on. Prior to this car we had an Audi A6 Allroad, which I did the same on (Avons), and those would have done another 2 winters.
It's not a sports car, so ultimate handling isn't a priority, and in my experience wear has been no worse than summers I've had. The Avons on my Allroad actually lasted alot longer than the summers it came with!

The tyres have only done around 2k so plenty of tread on. Was more concerned about dry weather use as to grip etc in the summer months ( if we get one of course! ) Just didn't want to buy them and then find i need a summer set as well Big Cry

You can use winters all year but they will wear quickly in summer. I have also found that in warmer dry weather, winters don't handle very well and upset the balance of the car. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. I've been running on winters (Wintrax) for two months now and the temperature has only dropped below 7 degrees TWICE! I've noticed no problems with handling though. So far as far as I can tell the Wintrax are wearing less quickly than the standard all-season Pirellis. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I have had my winters on since the end of October, but I drove down to Devon for New year (500 miles round trip), but I puton my brand new summers (Continental UHPe) as it was warmer.

The drive of the car is alot crisper in warmer conditions on summers than winters. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
