Rear wiper motor.

Mine only swept 3/4 of the way across the rear window this morning and then stopped and seems seized. It has been quite slow since I bought the car about 6 weeks ago but I didn't know if that's the speed they're supposed to be.
Anyone know if there's an easy and cheap fix?
Thanks.

Thanks.

Thanks for those links. I tackled it just now and found that the wiper shaft was seized.
Inside, all the gears etc were still nice and clean and with a little persuation it ran. So I didn't disassemble anything but kept squirting Telfon penetrating lube at both ends of the shaft while it was "wiping" in thin air. Gradually it freed up and ran OK. Thumbs Up

I need to add..................as per those other threads, my motor was hot when I got into it. So if this happens to you, get in there ASAP and disconnect the electrics from the motor.

The second link posted by chicken george is a link to my pictures/post, it worked out to cost around a quarter of the price and was dead easy to do 👍

Fortunately I tackled mine before the steel worm gear mashed the plastic gear. All working good with just some lube into the bushes.
I didn't realise that you could press the shaft out of the housing. I might do that sometime to put some Graphited grease in there. Thumbs Up

Hi all,
Hoping for some advice please. Experienced similar myself, motor unit taken out, striped, cleaned, re assembled.
Motor work fine until yellow cog is fitted, at which point the fuse blows. Im thinking its something to do with the starting position of the yellow wheel.
My fault for not recording before stripping i know.
Anyone know the correct starting position for the yellow cog please ?

Thanks

If your fuse is blowing you've probably got seized bearings on the wiper shaft. Did you free them off in your strip down?

Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures while I had mine apart. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

No wiper shaft attached yet. Fuse is blowing with just the yellow cog attached. Hence my thinking its attached in the wrong position.
