Free service getting discontinued for 2009 models.

I have been looking into getting a LR2 and was told last night that for 09 you will no longer be able to get free services for the length of the warrenty.

Now I have to decide whether to get an 08 or wait and get an 09. I'm thinking I should find an 08 with the options I want. I would save around $3000 in service fees over 4 years if I got an 08.

What do you guys think?

Yes we do if you work for a company that has annual revenue over $20M I think. It is called the corporate servicing plan.

Demand for the car msut be strong if they can remove that incentive and continue to sell.

Are there any alternative incentives?

What are the advantages of waiting for an 09, any spec changes?

Tell the dealer the free servicing is a real deal breaker and see what he can offer...

i.e. squeeze him until his 'pips' squeek !!!

Unfortunatly we UK'er don't get free services unless the dealer drops a b Censored ck

I personal can't understand why the car companys ever started give them out for free as part of the deal.

Do all of the USA car dealers do it? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Here in the US I think that just BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, and Audi have free service, but I'm not positive. The sales guy at Land Rover told me a lot of them are taking it away though. I didn't even now they all offered this.

Nothing is changing for the 09 LR2 model, but I can get the same price for either the 08 or 09. I would rather have an 09 but the free service will save me a few grand.

The sticker price with all options but the Technology package is $39100 and I can get it for $36300 plus tax.

still stick with my original post, stick 08, and free servicing

If there are no changes to the LR2 that make the 09 worth $3000 extra in service costs, make the most of it whilst you and bite the bullet on your next change when you have to pay for servicing (LRX my be out then too Very Happy )

You could always swap some stuff aftermarket to make it look more 09, and place a private registration on it (if you have them across the pond)

08 and pocket $3000 you know its the right thing to do Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I am trying to sell my car now and depending on how long it takes I will try and get an 08. But I was told by the dealer that the only 08 Black with black interior left was 6 hours away and they wouldn't cover the whole cost to deliver it. So if it's gone I might be stuck getting an 09.

There are changes for MY09 HSE if you count that 08 HSE is really the new MY09 HSE and the SE is dropped for US market

19 inch wheels with updated look
memory 8 way power seats with setting for 3 drivers - also saves exterior mirror setting per driver
revised leather seats
lid for the pitiful Laughing so called storage bin between the seats
car is all body colored and rear spoiled and cheap looking titanium (read plastic) door handles. (I liked the black better)

again, this all came about mid year for 2008 HSE, as the SE was dropped as an option. Unlike the UK - you guys get all the choices with like 5 trim levels, manual gear box, engine choice, even interior color for dash vs black or tan Whistle

I personally think, LR, should market more UK trim levels to offer a more diverse as well as broader market share in the US.

I have 3 quotes
08 SE all 3 packages - silver/ebony - 35681
08 SE all 3 packages - demo silver/ebony 2400 mls - 34914
09 HSE all 3 pkgs - white / ebony - 37979

or plan b - MINI Clubman with 32mgh highway / 23 city.... 3/36 maintenance plan - 4 yrs roadside.. and better resale I'm quite sure... Razz

Is that 37979 euros? That is almost $56,000 U.S. dollars. Are they that much more in Europe? I can get a fully loaded 08HSE for 39,000 dollars.

The 08 HSE and the 09 HSE aren't really different I didn't think at least here in the states. I wish the door handles were black too.
