I'm a potential FR2 owner and caravan tower. What is the general spare wheel situation please? Will a standard alloy fit in the spare wheel well without modification? Or is the spare underslung? Most FR2s for sale come with an inflating kit, but alloys with tyre are not too expensive on ebay. I have had a poor history with punctures so this is important to me.

Yes a full size alloy spare should fit in the well, the jack etc sits beneath this in a expanded foam holder.

Confirmed, I have a standard alloy spare wheel.
Incidentally I was reading up on the DS and learned that you can only have a spare wheel if it's specified at build time as the floor pan is different. That's going to make searching for an suitable car on Autotrader or a dealer's website a bit difficult as probably won't be a search option and my bet is that few cars will have been built that way anyway. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Thanks, that probably explains a FL2 I saw on autotrader today. It quoted a tyre kit and a full sized alloy spare, but I did notice in the photo of the boot, that the floor was not flush and there was about an inch gap all round.

Mine was supplied with an optional full size alloy spare - I have upgraded to Evoque wheels and also have a fifth alloy which fits in the recess without any problems.
In the past I have been stranded with other cars which only had a useless (tyre was split) blow up kit No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Having been told I had a full-size spare when I picked up the FL2, I was out this afternoon to turn it over so that I could use the well-space better. Turns out that although it looks full size, it is actually the steel wheel with a very nearly full-size tyre. The car has 235/65R17s all round, but the spare is 225/65R17. Why would they do that? There is plenty of space for the 235 tyre and it surely can’t have been much of a cost-saving, but it means that you would be driving with one wheel a half-inch smaller than the rest! If they wanted to go narrower, why didn’t they change the aspect ratio? Is it simply to make sure you don’t end up running too long on three alloy rims and one steel one? 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

My full size spare wheel, which my TOPix Vehicle Summary says was factory supplied, is identical to my other tyres and wheels.
It fits in the boot perfectly under the false floor, and it has TPMS ready to go.

I have noticed, (and have done in past), that if buying a spare, it is often a lot cheaper to use a different type of wheel, although I always used a full sized tyre. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 76k+ miles) (MY2015)
