Looks tempting, but aerial looks a bit small. If you read other threads about DAB the LR one is much bigger. FL2 11 S Black 😂

There is maybe a more integrated aftermarket DAB solution available.

This company makes a DAB module which works exactly like the OEM system, not via FM-Tuner

http://mobridge.com.au/products/most-dab

You see they list the Disco 3 and RRS, well the OEM DAB modules on those are the exact same units as used in the FL2.

I contacted them earlier this week, the local price here for that unit is $550 which is about £215, I believe there is a reseller in the UK as well.

I am hoping to test fit one in our FL2 to see if/how it works. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

looks interesting Cambo,
I installed an Autodab unit to my Freelander 1 some years ago (I have also always worked in radio Comms) and I feel that the main issue facing anyone that wishes to retro fit DAB is not keeping things digital as the digi to analalogue units have sufficient signal level to to maintain a better than FM audio quality, but the antenna. Get the antenna wrong and you'll be unhappy no matter what solution you go for.
The other key point is how you control the device, a remote control in a vehicle is not a good idea.

I have the DABmotion ROLA too - next best thing to factory fit Smile
Remote control fixed to the dash with double sided tape to ensure it doesn't get lost.

Yep, would agree with that.

If I can get hold of one of those units to test, I would first try using the factory antenna in the window glass with the factory antenna amplifier, and compare it to a standalone antenna as well. It's just a matter of making an adaptor cable SMD to Fakra, and these are readily available.

This is my biggest gripe about aftermarket equipment, having additional screens on the dash or remotes, doesn't cut it for me. The radio interface might be a little clunky or dated, but it's better than having crap stuck all over the place. I also want to use the steering wheel controls. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
