Hi guys

I'm having trouble with my cigarette lighter socket in the central pedestal area.

I have found that there is no voltage coming to the rear fuse box fuse for the circuit so I suspect there is a problem with the wiring into the bottom of the fuse.

Does anyone know how to remove the plastic fuse mountings so I can check the wiring coming into the fuse holder?

I have checked the fuse in the engine bay and its good and has voltage, also have done the checks with the engine running as I believe it's only active when this is the case.

The rear socket is driven from a different fuse which is in the rear fusebox in the spare wheel well. I had just this a couple of months ago and had a fault USB adapter which blew both socket fuses. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Yeah I have been attacking this for the last few days now....it seems that when I remove the fuse in the rear box and test the connectors directly there is no voltage and indeed no resistance so I guess there must be a break in the cable wiring somewhere...I just hope its near the fuse box as I dont fancy tracing the wires all the way back between the engine and the rear fuse boxes.

I cant seem to find anything to detail how to remove the plastic fuse mounting bits in the box so I can see the wires coming into the fuse box itself

Solved

Just in case anyone else is interested, there are two bolts attaching the fuse box to the cross bar behind the back seats. Once loosened the fuse box can be slid out and pulled off a locating pin. There are two cable ties holding the wiring loom onto the box it was easier to cut these off and then you can easily turn over the fuse box to check the wiring underneath. The cable ties are easily replaced when putting it all back in place.

Sadly didn't help my problem so next is trying to remove the trim around the central pedestal area to see where the wires come into the cigarette lighter area.

After checking everything in the circuit it turned out that the actual socket housing had shorted, a replacement one worked fine so all the trouble looking for a wiring fault was wasted time (but quite knowledgeable)
