leaking sunroof?

Well, we had some heavy rain today & I had some water dripping from the around the front interior light fitting onto the TR controls. Car had been parked up all day. I've seen this once before over a year ago after a jetwash session & figured I'd been over enthusiastic with the jet. Not seen since even after heavy rain. I thought most of the water collecting in the sunroof gutters drained forwards & not down the drain tubes. Any hints anyone? Sad

A bit of reading via search, seem to be a number of threads

I did try that & read all the posts. But they seem to describe water coming in at the A pillar & are not too clear about the exact cause apart from one with a kinked drain tube. Just hoping for some fresh input I guess! I don't understand why it is so intermittent either. Confused

Intermittent may suggest penetrating water from a certain direction, especially if you replicated this with the jet wash. If the rain was being blown from a certain direction this could cause ingress if you have a weak point in the gasket rather than a blocked or kinked drain tube. Hope that makes sense? You could try causing the leak by jet washing from a particular angle then checking for leaks, if dry then change the angle then recheck.

Is the car parked on the level when it occurs or on a slope one way or the other?

As you can see from previous posts the sunroofs do leak and it will either be the seals or the drain tubes.

Just a process of elimination.

We have a little Clio as a shopping car / runabout and they come fitted with a sunroof leak as standard Rolling with laughter So common is the leak that there is a standard way to fix it, so spent Friday evening in the garage sorting it out. The cause? A crappy seal (a bit like the self adhesive foam draught excluder) that degrades over time, so it's a (relatively) simple matter of taking out the sunroom, cleaning it up, silicone and replace. We've had some pretty heavy rain so far this week and not a drop inside so far Thumbs Up Sounds like your FL2 leak could be very similar.

thanks all. I'll have a look at it over the weekend it its not pi**ing. I read in one old post that there was a bonding issue with some 07 cars, meaning the sunroof frame isn't properly fixed to the roof & has to be removed & refitted. Hope its not that...

A water or an oil leak is par for the course on an 8 year old landrover, so don't be too worried Laughing

My daughters Clio sunroof also leaked onto the drivers seat leaving it soaking wet. Her 'fix' was to wedge some panty liners between the sunvisor and roof lining to soak up the water. Very inventive! Laughing

Noticed today I had some drips of water coming out of the front interior light/sunroof switch, so I am at present trying to look for a solution seems there are not many conclusive reports of how to solve this

I've just resolved a leaking sunroof on my Fl2 , it was the rubber seal that is stuck on the front edge of the glass . Mine had come away from the glass on the nearside and the headlining was getting damp and causing the screen to mist up . It was cleaned and stuck back on with superglue , it has now solved it . Hope this helps Thumbs Up .
