Winter 2015/16

Any thoughts on the coming winter guys? Anyone leaning towards more cold and snow? Personally, I reckon a mild winter is on the cards but with cold interludes similar to the Boxing Day snow last year.

We can at least ignore the usual crap being spouted in the Daily/Sunday Express Laughing

Not as bad as 2010 (I hope) - but that's not saying much!

Not even the FL2 will cope with that lot! Not up the hills anyway.

They have to get it right eventually!

A TV program a short while ago was suggesting that there were issues with the Gulf stream temperatures which could presage a pretty cold winter unless things changed and I haven't seen any evidence that it has yet!

2010/11 was great, I had just picked up my SD4 Fl2 and spent most of its first few months driving through snow.

I hope it's not too bad this year as I just sold a car with a heated steering wheel. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I follow a few forecasters on twitter. Apparently the Atlantic is cooler than normal but the North Sea is warmer than normal. This is going to lead to an El Nino this year. My local forecaster, reading his recent blog he is saying its a little early to be predicting the winter but he thinks that anything could happen because of the El nino although he thinks that there will be more snow than last year, cold at times but also wet and windy conditions.

Other forecasters are saying its going to be cold and snowy, this depends on if we get high pressure blocking over Greenland, this will let cold air flood in from Russia. All in all I suspect it will be a case of looking out of your window in the morning and seeing what the weather is doing!! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

The window, the best weather device there is Thumbs Up

My wet n miserable addition seems to be popular, although I hope not the weather we will get, I prefer crisp, cold days, snow not unwelcome. Let's wait and see.

My guess is that is going to be a bad one. Some friends of ours go wildlife spotting on Islay and surrounding islands and last week they reported an unusually large number of migratory birds which usually means bad weather to come. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!

A friend of mine once battled through snow and ice to get to work in his Defender 110. The problem was that he was the only one to turn up as no one else could get through the snow. He turned around and went home. There are times when having this capability is counterproductive. Shocked 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

About 15 years ago I had a customer meeting up in Macclesfield. I was living in Leicester at the time so that meant a drive over the Peaks. It was chucking it down with snow, but I made it in my trusty Mondeo and got there just before 9:00am. People who lived on the other side of Macclesfield were phoning in to say they couldn't make the meeting because of the snow.... Big Cry

I had a similar experience a long time ago driving from Dorset to Nottingham in the snow, I got there OK but one key attendee called in to say that he lived in Birmingham and couldn't make it. I had already driven around Birmingham on the M42 and it didn't look that bad so I wasn't too pleased. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
