2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Sumatra Black
Front Grille

Has anyone changed there standard front grill to the HST one without the full bodykit? If so would someone be able to post up a picture so that i could see what it looks like. I am considering this mod but am unsure as to what it will look like without the rest of the bodykit.
I'm also not overly keen on the old one having to be hacksawed out Shocked
Thanks

I think the grille on it's own is about £85 from LR

Those pictures look cracking.
So having hack-sawed the old one out, how does the new HST one fit and has anyone actually had experience of doing it themselves?
I am also wondering if the new grill would accept a coat or two of black paint. FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

I have the full Sports Body kit fitted so have not experienced the "hack saw" attack myself, however if you go to the Land Rover owners info site http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/extfree2viewlrprod/index.jsp you can access the accessories section and find the "Body Kit" instructions (page 3) This will show you (in pictures) how to fit the Grill. I think the famous 3M tape makes an appearance!

Isle Of Man 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Narvik Black

After reading this forum I have decided to fit the sports styling kit.

Whilst I wait for the rest of the kit to be painted I decided to fit the grill myself this weekend.

Stormer Grill & Surround - Part Number - VPLFB0032
(parts in package, grill, instructions (pictures only), cleaning swab in sealed packet, adhesive promoter swab in sealed packet)

Cost from dealer £72.11 plus VAT

How to:

Cut out old grill using hacksaw (careful not to damage the plastic behind). I used a coping saw to make it easier.

Remove plastic bits left on bumper and grill after cutting (they get everywhere, I used a damp cloth)

The new grill bonds to the light coloured front lip of the grill edge that remains. Clean this with the supplied cleaner cloth and leave to dry for a few minutes.

Wipe the area that the new grill will bond to with the adhesive promoter cloth provided.

Place the new grill in position and whilst keeping it pressed in place remove the red backing tape to the adhesive foam tape.

Apply pressure to the grill and it’s done.

Total time from start to finish 30 minutes.

On a DIY difficulty rating of 1 (easy) to 10 (very hard) I would rate this as a 2.

Have fun

Chris
