Agree - Germans have far more snow than we do and they seem to cope quite happily on winter tyres. As regards the insurance, I'd suggest approaching a competent broker, who will be able to give you chapter and verse, rather than the speculation you'll get from us. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

I expect that everyone knows this but putting an older people especially females as named drivers on a policy can have a significant effect on premiums. My son found that adding his Mum as a named driver on his Porsche 911 reduced the premium significantly even though she is too scared to drive it. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Adrian Fluz do a limited milage policy, I had one a couple of years ago on my defender I think it had to be less that 4000 miles in the year.. It' didnt cost very much really, but obviously depends on you own circumstances..

Why not look into 4x4 models that can be insured under limited mileage on a classic car policy? You could get classic insurance fairly cheaply. I was working on a shogun today that was 22 years old and it drove perfect. That would certainly be classed as a classic. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.
