2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Zermatt Silver
Rear clunk when turning?

Hello all,

Sadly this is my first post on here as a new freelander 2 owner of 1 week.

We bought a 58 plate SE auto with 64k miles from an approved used volvo dealership, service was excellent and included in the sale was a 3 month warranty - we eagerly await documentation in the post of what this will cover however!

Unfortunately this wasn't picked up in the test drive but am aware it is a common problem... when turning left or right on near to full lock at low speed there will often be a clunk from the rear and a brief rumble. There is no whining noise when driving normally that others have reported.

Does this sound likely there are issues with the rear diff / haldex system? I'm thinking as it occurs when turning in both directions it's unlikely to be specifically related to 1 wheel?

Just thought I would get some ideas before approaching the dealer! Should the warranty not cover the issue, is it worth complaining to land rover directly if there is a rear diff issue? Any advice is very welcome!

Otherwise loving the car!

Thanks.

If you have only had it for one week you will be covered by the sale of goods act (SOGA). The issue doesn't sound familiar, I would take it back for the dealer to investigate.

Put some oil in the Haldex, works wonders apparently?

The garage will probably try "Oh that! they are all like that "excuse first. Rolling Eyes
Weve had 20 in here and they all do the same type of thing.
