I finally got around to sticking a CD in the car.

The 380 watt system seems to be a bit thin in the mid tones, & the bass & sub is a bit wobbly. The overall soundstage is a touch muddy. My guess is the 825 watt will clean up the mid tones & with more power hopefully the bass & sub are tighter.

The 380 watt system has more than enough volume, but that is not the point of a good system. Benchmarking against home amp Marantz PM KI Pearl Lite. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

If your other half is as observant as mine, she probably won't.

Mine did not realise the wheels on her car had changed from 18" to 20" until she found the old wheels in the garage two weeks later.

She did not notice the rear spoiler fitted to her car was not there when she first got it.

Etc.

Not had a long time to get used to the Premium Meridian System but my initial thoughts are WOW!
The hi-line is good but this is the next step up.
Currently I'm preferring to set the system to "Stereo" as this to me is the best setting for getting the full experience of the extra rear speakers. "Meridian" for me seems to send too much voice through the front speakers. It's very noticeable that the sound is coming from almost the dash itself.

The Premium system is much more powerful, obviously and im not being able to get past 30 on the volume level whereas on the Hi-line i could listen comfortably, well a bit "duf duf" at 40.
Its when you get the Premium system up to 25 or 30 on the volume you can really tell the quality. Sound seems to come from everywhere.
I'm not sure whether I'm imagining it but the sound has seemed to change a bit since we activated on the weekend. The system is supposed to adapt to the acoustics of the vehicle so I'm assuming it's learning the more I use it. Again I'm still playing with levels at the moment. It's also suppose to have dynamic volume level control which adjusts volume inside the car to external noise but I really haven't noticed this yet.
So initially I'm extremely happy.
Majority of the time I'm connected via Bluetooth so my next thing will be to connect via the USB port and have a direct digital connection and see what that's like.
Can recommend this mod to anyone!
Happy Days! MY15

Yesterday while playing Jon & Vangelis I'll find my way home. Without the engine running a small red battery warning came on at volume 48. Then I fired up the car to listen to the track again.

Decades ago a friend had very serious hi fi. We listened to the same tracks on CD & master press vinyl records. We did many blind tests and the record sounded better than a CD every time.

But we both agreed that for convenience & more to the point the shear cost of the hi fi the CD was the way to go. His turntable alone was over $7k! (early 1980s)

People don't realise the rubbish they are listening with these days. They should listen to a top end system at some stage!

Had my ears calibrated not too long age. They were trying to sell hearing aids. I calibrated there machine & told them to shove it!

The + settings look a bit worrying! On my pauper system I find setting the base & sub, 1 or maybe 2 notches to the — is about right.

I also have the balance centre set a little to the rear. Back seats of the car are basically never used. Have also got Autex carpet under spare wheel and an extra piece covering the boot floor which might deaden the sound a touch. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Been out in the car today and it's becoming obvious that the system is/has learnt as the sound is vastly improved since the weekend. The odd "power ballad" has never sounded so good!
Cher, Whitney even "long hot summer" Style Coucil is sounding amazing.
Sound now just seems to fill the car with no real idea of a single speaker. It's seems less front centric
now also.
Still steaming via Bluetooth.
Really enjoying this!

Be interesting to see if you notice any differences between a CD (a pressed original, not burnt or MP3), bluetooth streaming and using the phone with a cable.

Even better if you have the exact same tracks on CD and on your phone, you can really make direct comparisons.

I've found that a lower volumes you don't really notice much difference it quality, it's when you crank it up loud that the difference is more apparent.

Also some "compliation" CD's where the record company packs as many songs onto the disc as possible can also sound a bit whack...

Have you got any quadraphonic CD's? I wonder if the Meridian Surround can do quadraphonic staging... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

Even with my Hi-Line system I noticed a difference playing through the USB port so I image there will be.
Just haven't remembered to put cable in the car so it's on the list of things to do.
Haven't ever used the CD slot as yet so I'll try and yes my library on my iPhone has lots of same
On disc.
You lost me on the last bit. Laughing
But I have noticed a big change in the sound since we initialised on the weekend, huge difference. MY15
