Time for first service so I phoned the three closest dealers for quotes. The car was supplied by Lancaster Land Rover in Reading and they offered the lowest price (£347). Since they are by far the closest and most convenient it was a no-brainer to use them.

All very satisfactory – friendly and efficient service, including a phone call as soon as the car was ready (always promised but so rarely given in my experience of other, non-LR, dealers unless they want to extract more money for some unexpected work).

Service, plus headlight beam alignment check (I’d put a set of Philips X-Treme Power bulbs in and jolly good they are too), plus checking and fixing driver’s seat movement when braking, plus discovering and fixing a minor oil leak. Wash and brush-up inside and out and ready by early afternoon.

Got my 1st service for 250 squid. Basically, I asked an Inverness LR dealer to price match a LR dealer in Leeds. They did!

I had my 2nd service (30K) done at Lancaster Reading last week, total cost £414. I didn't buy the car there, but it's a lot more convenient to get to than my selling dealer so I thought I would give them a try. Good service on the whole, but the seat movement when braking isn't fixed yet, although they did contact Land Rover about this and apparently have to dismantle the seat to tighten up some cables, for which it's booked in again.
