I don't personally have a dog at present but we have some farm dogs in the family (they are on the payroll) . I understand that if you buy "working dog" food from agricultural outfits like SCATS/ Mole Valley there is no VAT on it. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Now that beaters get taxed on our income from beating, we claim back as expenses for all the dog food anyway

There are quite a few around that are VAT free already like some of the Skinners/Chudleys range as they are marketed at working dogs.
