A mates Lexus has bigger, fatter tyres on the rear axle but they are all in pairs.

"Skinnys" as spare says you must be able to put different width tyres on the same axle but it doesn't feel like a good idea except to get you to home or a garage somehow.

I always replace in pairs but have been told by dealer there was no need to ever replace all 4 on the FL2 (unless tread required it) that apparently was a real issue with FL1's though!

Your car's response to a tyre letting go at 70mph sounds pretty impressive! Glad that all worked out well, there would have been a seat valeting bill to pay after that event in some cars I am sure!!!

2 days ago had n/s rear tyre ripped on the inner sidewall on a sharp rock (dirt track road) - thank goodness for a proper spare. New tyre + using spare which was new saved the day. Got to have matching on axles apparently, presumably ok for front to be down by half, unlike some full time 4x4's. £104 not bad at all, especially against the (almost) grand a set the RRS used to cost. General Grabber AT2's all round when due next though. FL2 Ex D2, D3, RRS, etc. now all gone.

Just be advised the car electronics monitors the relative front to rear wheel rotations. During fault diagnosis it was noted mine had an exception recorded which we put down to excess wear on one pair by previous owner. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

235 X 65 X17 best fit wider tyre would be 255 X 60 X 17 the change is only one mm in diameter, this tyre size will fit rims from 7J to 8J should suit you very well, didn't check prices. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
