I need a photograper on a trip just out of Canberra on 16th and 17th of May. My wife has to be in Canberra for the weekend so I'm going into the Brindabella ranges to Mt Coree, then through Flea Creek to Macintyres Hut to camp on saturday night. Sunday is a leisurely drive out and back to Sydney. The scenery is spectacular and it's a great camp ground next to the river. Steep enough tracks to make it very interesting but nothing that will damage your car. About 4 creek crossings. Are you interested? Of course, any others who wish to tag along are welcome but be aware it might be a bit daunting for beginners because the tracks are very steep.

Mate, I'm ditching the wife in Canberra for the weekend. Her idea of camping is a 3 star hotel.

My wife would just get trampled by the herds of back packer girls, so really I'm doing her a favour. Most of us Aussie guys go remote for a bit of peace and quiet from that sort of thing. You know how it is... (in my case it's to get out of chores)

Hi Mike, count me in, (if you can bear the thousand questions I have to ask you about four-wheel driving and stuff...), but I cannot promise I will be a photographer - my camera is busted, don't know if I could repair it for the Brindabella trip. You must also promise to pull me out of trouble the way you did the Disco dude who was climbing Mt Pinnibar.

I'll be happy if any other Oz members of Freel2.com could join us for this little outing.

PS I go remote mostly for the beautiful backpacker girls, that I inevitably meet there

That's great Vesko. I'll be in the FL2 this time as the wife won't travel in my Jeep. She won't let me pick on the FL2 either, I'm not allowed to take it into the hairy stuff anymore, too many bumps and scratches on it already. Mid May will be getting cold up in the Brindies so not much chance of those back packer girls skinny dipping in the river I'm afraid. There will be a chance of snow on the ridge tops which makes the steep tracks even more interesting.

If only I wasn't several thousand miles away...!

I hope someone is going to rustle up a camera from somewhere and post some pics of the trip!

I am based in Canberra and have a 2014 TD4 SE - (Just finished 3 years in a previous TD4)

I think I can get a leave pass from my wife that weekend - but will have to find an Antarctic Survey certified sleeping bag We had a fall of snow on the Brindabella's over the weekend!

Always learning! - Some modest experience on the trails and national parks around Canberra including Mt Franklin, Lobbs Hole Ravine, Talbingo fire trail and tower, and further afield Stockton Sand Dunes etc. Hold RTO standard 4WD Certificate and current FL2 fitted with Green Oval protection plate & 18inch wheels.

I have not driven the McIntyre's Hut however a work colleague and friend may also be interested in coming and he has driven the route - however the problem is - he drives a Prado !!

Sounds great. We are always happy to help pull Toyotas out of trouble. At this stage, I'm thinking we meet in Canberra mid saturday morning in case Vesko is coming down from an early start in Sydney, then make our way out to Mt Coree if the weather is fine, then down Gentle Annie trail through Flea Creek and along Webb's Ridge to the McIntyre's Hut trail. Camp by the river saturday night, then drive out mid sunday morning. If the weather is no good saturday, we can try Mt Coree on sunday. The views from up there are spectacular so clear skies are preferred. Everyone will need a uhf radio and preferably some recovery gear such as a snatch strap or max trax. If it's raining it can get mighty slippery on the steep sections. I have a sat phone if we strike any real trouble.
I'll be in Canberra friday night and have to be back there by around 3 sunday afternoon to pick up my wife and get back to the Blue Mountains.

Hey guys. You are scaring me with all this talk of cold and snow. I'm currently on Kho Chang and snow is the last thing on my mind, but I'll be in Canberra on 16th of May. Mike, I'm an early riser, I can be in Canberra around 9, or even 8 am. Let me know.

nhrwcan, I'm glad that our driving party is growing, I'm just afraid I don't have such experience certainly not in snow. Should I look for snow chains?

Vesko, you aren't there with no pictures. Some beach "scenery" would be good.
