Duckworths - not happy!!

Posting this under the Duckworths Parts thread, though this has absolutely nothing to do with the excellent services received by Dan and the parts department.

However it's an ideal platform to vent my anger.
Like everything nowadays, you buy something from a company and understanably you're automatically put on their list for mailshots, emails, texts etc.
Well on Saturday at 7.43am, yes I was still in bed [as it's the only day I have a longer lie in], I could hear a text notification from my phone in my office next door.
Thinking it may be urgent I got up to check .... and yes it was Duckworths inviting me to buy LR products for Christmas !!!
I DO NOT NEED THIS INFORMATION - ESPECIALLY AT 7.45AM ON A SATURDAY Evil or Very Mad

The text advises though that you can text STOP to 8122 to stop future texts.
However I've just found out that even though my phone contract gives me free texts, this 8122 is a 'premium' text number and therefore I am charged accordingly.
Now it's only .083p, but still .... WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY TO STOP BEING HASSLED. Evil or Very Mad

Again to reiterate, this has nothing to do with Dan's excellent service but this does distract form it.
I trust Dan will take this to the authorities concerned.

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Baltic Blue

I got this as well - early on Saturday morning, asking if I was interested in buying LR Bikes from Duckworths. Wasn't impressed with the timing, given that I had a heavy Friday night, so understand where you're coming from. Moral of the Story: Put your phone on silent before you go to bed (not always an easy thing to remember with a bellyful of Ale) Foraging near Gaydon....

What is a Premium Rate SMS
A premium rate SMS or PSMS is a message that is charged to the mobile user. There are strict regulations covering PSMS, including the advertising, subscriptions, legal wording and structure of the message. Premium SMS can only be sent to a user if a request was received by SMS to a shortcode from that user. PSMS is regulated by PhonePayPlus. For more information on PSMS please see their website: phonepayplus.org.uk.

I certainly never requested it.

For those on Android devices, I use an app called Mr Number. Really good and it's free. _________________

I've bought from Dan and didn't get the offending text. I don't feel left out as I habitually make sure that I decline marketing texts and the passing on of my details for just about everything. As for the timing Samsungs version of jellybean or kitkat or whatever they're calling it today has a blocking mode as part of the OS.

its really not a big issue, someone with prior dealing sent a text message, it takes less time to delete than to complain about it

i could understand if they was coming through, morning, noon and night each day Wink Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Never suffered texts from Dan just excellent service.
The way I get around unwanted calls and texts is by using a second phone
(pay as you go with a couple of pounds on it )

Use it as a number for delivery of items. Databases etc ect soon as item delivered switch phone off
Plus as well spare phone for emergencies .. Smile Smile Smile Smile Wales
