when abroad in the French Alps, i often saw cars with wipes lifted up off the screen, then you see jonny foreigner with his GB plates and the wipers normal, overnight a big dump of snow and the jonny's wipers are a mangled mess with the weight of the snow bending them

Putting them in winter park, might mean they are on the heater, but also able to bend away from the screen

but then liable to been bent by those who use the yard brush to clear the snow off their cars/trucks Shocked Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I live about 500 yds from the sea and I can't remember when I last had to scrape ice off the windscreen. However drive inland about a mile in the winter and you can sometimes hit ice with no warning - false sense of security.

Winter Wiper park position, the wipers ate now sat on the heating elements, thus they are defrosted

Stop calling it a truck or you'll get a slap Laughing

Nice pics - love the colour!

On my MY11, they park much further up, almost half travel. 2011 SD4 HSE Auto

Re: Wipers winter park position

Mine too also sit high when in the Winter position, but looking at the OPs post it would appear that on earlier models they park near vertical, whilst on newer models the park nearer the bottom.
There you go, we've gone around full circle Laughing

I am a little bit confused.

From my 2012th Freelander 2, the wipers winter park position by holding the wiper switch down while turning the engine of, moves the wipers in a vertical position on the windshield.

Now in my 2015th i can set the winter park position via the instrument panel menue, which moves the wipers just 1-2 inches above the normal park position.
FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

I always thought on the pre MY13 it was called the service position to make it easier when changing the blades, that's why they come higher up the screen than winter sitting on the post MY13. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

In both cases the wipers are sitting on the heating elements.... Very Happy
The heating elements are starting about an inch above the lower side of the glass.
At least this is how it is on my MY2009.

That's all im getting here, normal or vertical. All the posh newer truckers have winter park

Can you guys with my13+ set the wipers for service? i.e vertical? Just does not help if it snows and the wipers only go a few inchs up will still put force on the wipers when under snow load

Remember a few years back when it snowed and the defender 90 ( green truck ) had a good load of snow on the wipers, though its some what easer to jump up on the bonnet and clear it off Laughing
