Radio reception

I'm finding the FM reception in my MY11 Freely deteriorating recently. Significantly more interference & break up, the unit struggles to find and keep a station where before it was fine.
Any others with similar experience? And would it be covered by (the extended) warranty?

As a long shot, I might be interested in having it upgraded. Is that possible?

There has been a large solar flare recently, played havoc with communications, sat navs etc, it may be natural phenomena at play?

Check the connector on the rear window glass, give it a wiggle, never know, a little corrosion on the contact?

I don't think the upgrade to DAB is feasible, not impossible, but I gather quite expensive. There are many kits on Fleabay which link DAB to the RDS-FM so you can receiev the stations.

Must admit, the window aerial is a bit carp. I've also noticed the sound gets worse when the HRW is switched on.

Good Lord, Beefy!
I still prefer Schubert though.

Did you ever sort this? I have the same problem - fading/no radio reception. Got someone to look at it and they said the head unit would need swapping out (they don't repair them any more apparently). Had a look myself and found the coax connector to the FM antenna amplifier was bad. Fiddled around with it, cleaned it up and a spray of WD40 and so far I have my radio stations back.

Improve radio reception?

Any thoughts on the value of this (inexpensive) item?

The AM/FM antenna is etched onto the RH side window glass. The antenna has an amplifier located just above the window.
