had new tyres fitted today and after checking the front and rear pads need renewing.
was quoted £160 inc vat from formula one and £170 from kwick fit.
are these pads OK or to be avoided.
should i use only genuine landrover pads??
is there a big price difference?
my warranty runs out in 1 months time
i have a service in 3 weeks time should i get land rover dealer to supply and fit pads at time of service ??

Front pads cost £150 for me at dealers.

Do Kwik Fit still not have the offer / deal on where if they replace your pads and disks they gaurantee them for the life of the car, so when they wear down they replace them for free?

front pads costing £150 will mean approx £300 for both front and rear from dealers
pads at kwik fit cost £170 but are these pads inferior pads or are dealers using same pads but costs are higher?

Dealers are more expensive mainly because there hourly rate is so high. Plenty of guys have done there own on here, there are some good posts with pictures on how to do it, and what pads they used.

I have found over the years that some of the cheaper brake pads wear down more rapidly and/or deposit more brake dust on your wheels. I am not one to always blindly stick with LR OEM (1'm out of warranty anyway with both my FL2s) but I tend to stay with LR genuine for pads. For such parts, I just buy them off ebay from one of the dealers on there - or use the ebay offers to persuade my local parts counter into a price match. Brake pads are usually around £100 total for the front and rears. However, when they have what I need then I often use an ebay seller called 'partslandrover' - currently you can get pads AND discs front and rear from them for £130 +P&P which is a bargain. I usually do my brakes and service stuff myself as they are fairly easy but if you take the LR parts along to any independent/back street garage then they will usually fit them for you and charge labour only.

Keep your eye out on the bay for Farnells, genuine parts, normally they are on a buy it know with best offer, I managed to get the fronts and rears, delivered for £60

If your not going to replace them yourself, I'd use any trusted independent garage to change them using OEM parts. I changed a set of pads & discs (Pagid OEM), on my Astra H, myself. A few months ago. & was very happy with the quality of them. I would do the same, as & when the FL2 needed them. Landy has now gone.

I use an independent, local garage for our 07 and have been very impressed with their service not to mention their prices!
They will happily carry out labour only work and recently I sourced Mintex front discs and pads and they fitted them for £60.
I would find a recommended independent and ask them to if they will source and fit your choice of parts, Mintex, LR genuine or whatever.
That way you will know what pads are being fitted. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?
