There are issues with oil dilution but this is not unique in modern diesels struggling to achieve euro6. And LR are doing the extra oil changes needed at no cost.

Agreed but, unfortunately, not unique to the DS Forum.

There’s a recent example of a certain engine fault that’s happened with a small number of examples of a popular LR model. Along with a small number of people who have experienced it, there’s a much greater number who have no experience of it at all, but seem to enjoy being “in” on the issue and will weep and wail with cries of righteous indignation until the only apparent solution is that every single person in LR Customer Services is burnt at the stake! Okay, I exaggerate, but you get the idea...

Unfortunately, these people, just like a pathogenic virus, then thrive on being the first to break the news on other websites where nobody’s even heard of the issue.

While these people seem to get a kick out of it, it leaves owners who have no need to worry, worried silly and a manufacturer with a needlessly damaged reputation and some hardworking people’s livelihoods at risk ☹️ Heck, even the perpetrators risk the resale of their own cars, so it’s a little lemming like really Rolling Eyes

@ Chicken George - by “SRCF”, May I take that you mean the Selective Reduction Catalyst? If that’s the case, the the SRC is completely different to a DPF, in that it uses urea solution (trade name AdBlue) to convert harmful nitrogen oxides into nitrogen, water and and CO2.

https://www.dieselforum.org/about-clean-diesel/what-is-scr

It does not need regeneration.

A DPF traps diesel particulates and then burns them at high temperatures. This does require regeneration.

No its an scrf , a combined particulate filter and nox treatment in one box, adblue is added before this box (after the DOC)

adblue is actually used as a catalyst to break down the particulates as well as converting the NOx

A system also used for many John Deere tractor engines as it happens.

Over all the distinction is quite complicated and causes a lot of confusion. At work

I personally like mine even after down sizing from a RRS.
But the news on the DS forum isnt good. mind you much of the bad stuff comes from ex owners who have
moved to to other brands.
If the car was as bad as that forum says it would be totally unusable. Whats worse is that even the moderator sees the truth as optional, if you post anything bad it is eagerly lapped up and exaggerated further. A purely hypothetical question. I had a bad dream last night that I was looking for a DS. However if for some reason I wanted to buy a DS and was researching the possibility I would want one with a proper spare wheel. Now I understand that this is a decision to be made when the car is built so is there any easy way of finding out if a used DS has the spare wheel well short of seeing the vehicle in the flesh. I suspect that the proportion will be quite small. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
