Horn not working?

The horn on my 58 Fl2 td4, has stopped working. I have checked the fuse (31), within engine bay. That's Ok. Does anyone know where the horn is located for me to test? Any other idea's?

Thanks for your post.
If that's the case, sounds an headache. Would have been alot easier, if the horn had been more accessible.
I have tried locking the landy with the bonnet up. Horn does not sound, can hear what sounds like a relay coming from the fuse box area. So this sounds like a horn fault, rather than a possible steering wheel horn control issue.

Found this vid on how to take off front bumper:-  Landy has now gone.

Two weeks prior to noticing that the horn had stopped working. I was hoovering the drivers side footwell out on my drive. With the drivers door open. For no apparent reason (did not touch the horn). The horn went off continuosly. After running around for a few seconds, like a headless chicken (felt like hours). I shut the door, re-set the alarm. Horn then went off.
I have no idea whether this horn issue was a coincidence to my current problem? Tomorrow, I will check to see if any codes are stored, using my code reader. If not, I will disconnect the car battery for half an hour. Then see if the horn starts working again. Perhaps it could be an ecu glitch. Landy has now gone.

If it the alarm it is not the horn, sure I've seen the alarm sounder up near the bulkhead, maybe wrong of course.

Thanks for info.
Do you know if it's the horn or the alarm horn that would be linked to trying to lock the car with the bonnet or doors open? I'm hoping they're linked to the horn. Landy has now gone.

Update,
No codes stored. Tried disconnecting battery, that didn't work.

It's more of an intermittent problem now with the horn.

Also the horn steering wheel buttons seem sticky. When you press the top part of the silver long horn button, you have to press the bottom to release it. The right button is worse, than the left. It's has always been a bit sticky, but seems worse now. Dose anyone know how the steering wheel controls comes off?

Answered my own question. 4 screws at the back of the wheel. Obviously, If I was to mess on with the wheel. I'd disconnect the battery, due to airbag.

I used a bit of wd40 on the buttons. All working well for now, inc horn. May have been a coincidence, not sure.

This motor has a mind of it's own at times Laughing Landy has now gone.

Did you get any further with your horn fault? Mine has recently begun playing up, sounding some times and not others Mad I have checked the fuse, its OK, and can hear a relay operating when the button is pressed. Before I take apart the front of the vehicle to get to the horns, does anyone know of any further checks I can make.
Co-incidently I received my copy of the Haynes Workshop Manual today but can not find any sign of the horn on the wiring diagrams. Sad Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

If it's an intermittent fault and you can hear the relay, then that probably rules out the steering switches.
Is the relay accessible and is it the same as others, a quick swap may prove whether it is the relay, obviously make sure you know what you are swapping as that device may then stop operating. Failing that it's down to connections, most likely at the horn end as they could well be exposed given their location, although there are two horns so a faulty feed would be the favourite.

My horn has also stopped working after a very enthusiastic beeping session driving down country lanes in Devon my horn now sounds like noddies car with only a ting squeak coming out not its usual manly sound Rolling with laughter Current 2008 Freel2 HSE

There are two horns, so if your sound has changed it probably means one is not working.
For those with warranty, horns are covered, including the LR "select" warranty. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Changed the horns yesterday. Now working OK. The job took 3+ hours with the help of a friend with the re-assembling. Probably could be done faster by someone not as old and decrepid as me. The Haynes Workshop Manual instructions were fairly good for the most part but the photos not very clear. The hardest part was getting the horn assembly out of the box section that it was hidden in. The old horns worked ok after the adjustment of tone screws, but I decided to fit new ones, £45 from Matfords Landrover, just to be safe. Couldn't face having to do that again.
