Yes, GAP Diagnostics.
The IIDTool is able, according to Jim, to flash engine ECUs with the latest level of software.

Changed EGR. Car drives smoother now and so far no hesitation.

Have had the same thing as has been reported.
Main Dealer very good [Lookers @ Chelmsford] and acknowledged the problem straight away. Smile
Did some tests and reported that it was either EGR or turbo fault.
New EGR fitted and so far, all OK. Thumbs Up
Cost me nothing at all as it was covered by the LR used car warranty Very Happy
Had a 2015 Evoque SD4 as loan car while work carried out.... Neutral .....nice, but I prefer my F2!

England 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver

We've had two EGR's in our Freelander 2 this year. The initial time the stutter stopped for approximately a 6-7weeks then started again and got progressively worse. After this we took the car back to our garage and the EGR got changed again under warranty due to it showing a fault code. Now this was on the 14th of July and all has been well upto a few weeks ago when the stutter/judder gradually started coming back. Has anyone else had a similar experience to ourselves?
I was also wondering if anybody had the EGR removed and a blanking plate fitted if this could remedy the problem, in my eyes it is definitely linked to the EGR valve, especially for the same scenario to happen twice to us under the same conditions.
This problem although its not terminal is really beginning to wear our patience thin, every time we think we've got to the bottom of it something else seems to crop up!
Any feedback would be much appreciated

Thanks
Simon

Was chatting about this issue on another LR forum and one member said it sounded like an issue he had on an earlier Disco. LR tried all the stuff they have been trying here but it turned out to be an airflow sensor issue. Or more accurately the wiring/connector was all that was faulty.

Long shot but possibly something worth checking? I know nothing about the mechanics and the FL2 may not even have an airflow sensor but thought I'd throw it out there. Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....

Wouldn't have thought this would be something as simple as a MAF sensor or similar as someone would have found that by now.

its a real shame LR have not got to the bottom of this, and to be 100% honest, it was the only reason I got rid of my FL2 and went to a DS.

For me in my old FL2, and in all of the autos I had on loan, the accelerator pedal just was not connected to the wheels, there was always lag/delay when driving in town. it drove me nuts. I have had dozens of auto cars, and never experienced this before.

IMHO my DS has an almost perfect gearbox, as does the loaner DS I had for a week or so before hand - which is what persuaded me to upgrade. The accelerator pedal seems totally connected to the wheels, pedal moves, wheels turn. Perfect.
FL2 when driving in town, Pedal moves, wait for it... wheels turn.

Other FL2 owners may have different experience with their auto in town.
Still love the FL2, if it came with a 9 speed box, would buy one today.

You would have thought so wouldn't you, but the suggestion was made from someone having the same issues on a Disco that had all the same sort of things tried with no luck. Learned to drive in 2011.

There has been another reply to the thread on LandyZone and someone else saying this sounds like a MAF issue.

I did a wee Google here http://www.nikrivers.com/freelander-td4/maf-sensor/ and for anyone who consistently gets the issue it sounds like this would be a simple test to prove it one way or the other, don't you think? Learned to drive in 2011.
