Phone function on Radio system not responsive

I have recently purchased an FR2, i noticed the option for connecting a phone to it in the users handbook. When pressing phone on the control panel it doesn't seem to do anything, i see nothing in the display.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Thank you

Matt

I followed the handbook for pairing my phone when I got the car no problem. You need the ignition turned on for the car/phone system to operate, otherwise the button does nothing (put key in slot, press "start" once briefly without foot on the clutch). In my expereince, pairing cars & phones can be a nightmare as all are different! HTH From a time when dinosaurs weren't just confined to zoos!

Thank you for the response, Just to summarize what i have done:

Ignition on, cell phone has blue tooth enabled and is scanning for devices. I have tried pressing PHONE button with the radio on and off, no difference.
I have tried starting the engine and doing the above steps. Same.

just for clarity, if i press the PHONE button, should it give me some kind of display?

As on my car it does nothing.

From memory you have to pair the phone first using the menu on the audio system. I.e. press the menu button, acroll down, and you should find a menu relating to the phone. That should allow you to pair the phone. Once you've done that phone information should appear on the audio screen, even with the audio off, and pressing the phone button with the audio on should allow you to make calls, etc. Even with the audio off you should be able to receive calls once the phone is paired. (Phone connectivity works only with the ignition on.)

IIRC there's a document on the Topix site describing the pairing process, and it should be covered in the manual.

If you have a look in the handbook there's a long section on the phone system, how to pair phones, etc. That's probably the place to start. If you don't have the handbook you can download a pdf version from this thread:
