I detest rule breakers . . .NO Tax NO MOT

Vauxhall Insignia Taxi in my area has no road tax and no MOT since December 2020. I assume if he bothered to get insured , it would be invalid because of this.

I have informed the DVLA online a few weeks back, but do they actually do anything?? I am beginning to doubt it.

I do not believe plod are even interested, plus its hard to contact them at all these days. I cannot save the planet on my own Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

There's talk already of incorporating APNR into speed cameras,
We tend to see a lot of clamped vehicles around this neck of the woods,

I thought Taxis were MOTd every six months!
Our eldest gave it a go for a couple of years - fairly sure he had to get his "minicab" inspected more often than the regular MOT just to keep his plate up to date. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

If it's a registered taxi, it should have a local authority supplied license plate. Report it to them. Andy

If he is charging for journeys he must have either a taxi licence or a private hire licence, the car is plated and have a up to date inspection date usually inspected each 6 months, without tax and mot there will be no insurance and if there is it won't be a carriage for hire insurance. Basically he's an illegal chancer, report him to the council's taxi registration office.
There are a fixed number of taxi licences so as not to swamp the market and owners can make a reasonable living though more than one driver can operate the vehicle but generally they must have a disclosure check and certificate, private hire which means they cannot use taxi ranks but be booked either by phone or on line. Generally fines for operating an illegal taxi are considerably higher than road traffic offences fines. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The chances are it will be one car and licence passed around several people.

There's a very dodgy looking Peugeot Boxer van near where I live that's been parked up for months through covid restrictions.
Parked right in the way on the roadside near a T junction.
It had a missing drivers side door mirror and no rear view mirror in the cab due to being a van.
It's now mobile again and seems to have moved most days for the past month or so. It's had a mirror added to the door, but it's MOT ran out in January this year - it needs bulldozing into a canal somewhere as it's a right wreck.
Sadly it's taxed until June or July so can't report it to DVLA - I suppose local police are the ones to contact.

Just as annoying are the piles of s... parked roadside emblazoned with “we buy any car for cash” signage. Council don’t seem to want to touch them
