Noise from auto gear box ?

There is a strange noise coming from the gear box when the car changes from 1st to 2nd.
If it was a manual you would think I was very slightly crunching or slipping the gear change.

Any ideas

When the vehicle changes from 1st to 2nd under light throttle load there is a gurgling sound which comes from the engine. I am assured that this is normal and is the transmission change coordination with the engine revs rise and fall. Accelerate more briskly and there is no noise at all! Ralph

The noise is intermittent and sounds the same as when you over torque a nut. (the grunt it makes just before it won't tern anymore)

I think (and hope) that Ralphk has it spot on.

The warranty finishes soon so the car is booked in on Thursday for inspection. SD4 Sports LE Black ...

I say it's the dump valve!
Mine does exactly the same.

Ah, the dump valve? Confused
That’s not a bad guess, mine does something similar, intermittently, the best way I can describe it is like the sound you hear when you pull the plug out of a bath, and hear that first whooshing noise as the water hits a grid outside. It’s all very quiet and over in a second or so but it does trigger a small amount of LRP occasionally. (LRP= Land Rover Paranoia) Is it defonately “normal” though??? I’ve never actually heard it with any other auto that I’ve owned... 57 HSE AUTO with H.I.D's - Grey with Black leather. (H.S.E. Heightadjustable Seats Extra Sad )

Must admit to not hearing any noise from the Auto box other than a slight whine in 1st gear Neutral unlike the wife when it goes on forever Sad

Im kind of glad im not the only one.....
I get this noise. It's something I'd liken to a blowoff valve from a turbo or a fluttering of some description. Mines done it for the last 35k miles (my period of ownership) with the total miles being 70k on a 57 plate.
Lately I've found it sometimes does it between gear changes too.... Not just when its changing from 1st - 2nd etc.
So far I've not noticed a particular situation it does it (ie cold days, start of a journey etc) either.
I have also found that sometimes if using command shift that if I knock it in to say 4th it doesn't change straight away and seems to 'slip' in to 4th over a second or two. Perhaps this is linked?
I was contemplating getting the gearbox oil changed to see if it made a difference?

I've also say it a couple of times that's from turbo...

I've also posted a link to the Russian forum where the thing was confirmed by a guy who listened in the engine bay during functioning and, indeed, the sound is coming from the turbo.
