seemed a sensible and safe overtake to me ??

once had the police overtake me on a recently chipped road.

yes they had their blues and two's on but still sprayed me with chips !!

not much you can do ??

certainly seemed a safe manouevre to me... but right that, if in a hurry, blues & siren would shift the car in front.
If it were me up front, I'd have let him past to get him out of my zone...

its on the A830 to Fort William to Mallaig

he is not driving a sports car so his overtake starts on a short straight and is along side me when the road has a slight turn to the left, this turn in the road along with the hedging trees blocks any view of oncoming traffic then he only makes it round me after the turn in the road and gets back in 1995 P38 now dead

well... you'll no doubt know the road better but, on the evidence, it looks like a safe overtake to me.

was he in a real hurry - did he go on to overtake the vehicle in front as well, and then speed off? ...

Thought he was going ahead to set up the speed camera for us but never seen him again until we arrived in Mallaig


Goes to show the option of front and rear cameras would be a better option, as the front camera only shows him finishing his overtake 1995 P38 now dead

yes that's perfectly acceptable. in the advanced riding/driving training we are taught to look much further down the road and prioritise hazards far better than the average motorist and I couldn't see what was happening behind but I would have guessed he could view through the bend right down the road to decide whether the overtake was on or not.

Nothing wrong with that - the driver is making good progress.

Blues and Twos are not obligatory when making progress. Sometimes they can hinder more than help.

Any particular reason why you removed the video at 21:07? Just curious..... Foraging near Gaydon....

What apparently happened to your friend is tragic - without knowing the circumstances it's impossible to say more.

You're obviously not speaking from an unbiased viewpoint, perhaps understandably, but UK police drivers are on the whole excellently trained. Fact.

Well they are ALL the finest trained and highly qualified drivers/riders out there yes! Anyone can make a mistake though. I am not police but I have been trained by one when he was off duty doing my advanced training and I have to say he was the most phenomenal of bikers but down to earth and a good laugh too. You get the odd police that are up themselves but on the whole they're decent folk!

Have to agree to disagree. The way I have seen the police drive recently is beyond a joke. Tailgating, speeding without lights or sirens and no indication. I truly believe they think they are above the law.

The level of training the police get depends on the unit they are attached to. As far as I am aware ordinary coppers in area cars are certainly not trained to the level of the now depleted traffic units who are trained for pursuit. The traffic units driver and riders (who also supply the drivers for the arv's) have got "class one licences" have to be recertified regularly to maintain that qualification and that was a week long course with constant assessment.
