Scotland 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e Dynamic Manual Fuji White
Been 20 years!

Where has the time gone still remember it like yesterday, was helping my Dad wash his beloved D1 and heard it on the news! Funny how a giant like BMW struggled to turn the brand around and in the end many years later it took a developing country to finish the job! Thumbs Up A company that almost everyone slagged off! Tata deserve a big thank you! Yes they are now making two wheel drive LR's and making them more aerodynamic both which I'm not a keen fan off! However the company has had to move on with times and consumer demand. Hopefully we won't be driving around in bubble LR's with selectable 4 wheel drive in the next 20 years Laughing No one knows what the future holds but we are all very lucky that JLR is now one of the strongest automotive brands around! Thumbs Up

I never saw an issue with them... I believe they are far more motivated.....

Apart from the decision to axe the Defender which is the icon of land rover I think they have done an amazing job.

To be fair, I doubt that axing the Defender was a lightly taken decision by JLR.

The blame lies firmly with the Green Lobby, Climate-change zealots and environ-MENTAL-ist's. They won't be satisfied until we are all using bicycles and Horse & Carts again! Foraging near Gaydon....

Along with a couple of air bags, which would not go amiss.

My impression is that Ford turned things round and Tata have built on that. Land Rover must be now at its most successful ever.

I'm pretty sure LR have said that the Defender will return. 2013 RR Evoque Pure Tech

I think the real shame was that the original Rover company was dragged down in the 70's when joined with BMC and then BLMC. Land Rover was just a Rover model type as the Discovery and Defender are now, The Range Rover the same. Rather an interesting marketing ploy by placing the designation before the make. The saloons were much more luxurious than either of the two then utility vehicles. Not much difference then between the Rover 3500 and the first Range Rover, compare the Jag XF to the base FFRR in price today. Would the Freelander have been called a Free Rover? 2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.
