Mitch the 15 Years Young Staffy!!!

Pride of place in the front, of course he wouldn't have any other way unless a long trip and will have a snooze in back seat!
Please note Mitch is securely restrained by his "Doggy seat belt" in case of an accident! Big Cry
Bonus to this is that the "Doggy safety restraint" plugs into the passenger seat belt buckle which means his not so petite A***! doesn't mean seat belt warnings are ever present!

Waiting for vets to open.

Well, Susie's under the weather this morning and wifey has left me strict instructions to get her up the vet. Pronto! But me being me, I'm not trusted to relay the correct information to the vet so I have been given written details of her symptoms which I must read out to the vet. This is what I have to give to the vet:

At least she's "Okay in herself"! I'm going to look a right bloody ninny!

Thanks Suepert. Very Happy
Well, just back from the vets. He checked her over, pushed, pulled, prodded, took temperature etc and could find nothing amiss. Seems to think it could be where she went crazy with all the other dogs when they were out walking yesterday, got caught in a violent thunderstorm and was pulling like she had never done before and her slip lead could have possibly damaged her neck/throat. Been given a 5 day course of anti-inflamarories and advised to not walk her on a lead/collar but to use a harness. Thing is, she's not normally on a lead when we are out walking the fields/farms unless a horse comes along or we go near a road but because a dog ran off yesterday after a flash of lightning followed by a huge crash of thunder, my wife put Susie on the slip lead. Oh well. £47.50 for the consultation, £10.48 for 5 tablets. Big Cry

If she pulls on the slip lead why not try the figure of eight method. This puts a loop over the snout and is the most successful way we have found to keep our Springer from pulling. He had a harness but it just seemed to allow him to really put his weight into the pull. You simply put the lead on as normal with the ring end under the neck, pull it down from the dogs neck, rotate 180 degrees and loop over the snout. If your dog is like mine she'll try to get the loop off her snout with a swift paw, but it's worth persevering with it.[/img]

Truffle passed away today from liver disease. My wife and I are absolutely heartbroken but she wasn't in any pain and slipped away peacefully with both of us with her. We loved her so much and her, us.

Sorry to hear of your loss, we know how you must feel at the moment having been in the same situation in the past. You have the memories forever though and as someone said to us in the past "When they leave you they take a piece of your heart with them but in return they leave you a piece of theirs.

Best wishes, Ian & Patricia

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Santorini Black

Just about to embark (no pun intended, honestly) on our first ever stint of dog ownership. Collecting our lab/golden retriever cross pup on Saturday. Pretty sure we don't know what's gonna hit us.

Sorry to hear about the loss others have suffered, can't be a nice time at all. Learned to drive in 2011.
Bought a Micra - great little car
"Upgraded" to Kia Sportage - hated it
Proper upgrade to FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - tailgate paint issues, fuel gauge rewire, transfer box failure at 36k miles, clutch at 60k
Reconditioned diff at 70k ish
Sold at 84k and now on a DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
