2 days ago i parked my car by our hotel (Italian Alps resort). During the night it snowed 5ft of snow...
Next morning, after digging a path to the car door, I got in and started the engine (I had sprayed silicon on the door rubbers, but it still was hard to open the doors).
There was about 40CM of snow in front of the car... I did not feel like clearing any more snow.

i put it in first gear and tried to go forward... nothing, the car did not have the power to break through the snow barrier in front of the car.
So, i switched DSC off and tried again. This time it was a bit better but still nothing.. did not have enough power.... Stalled


then i had an idea.. i put the car in sand mode and repeated the exercise..
Eureka ! it roared and spinning the wheels it eventually ploughed through the snow to reach the clean road.

it goes to show how important it is to know the car and its functions well !!! it saved me a whole lot of digging !

May I give you another tip? Wet, deep snow = mud&ruts and start in 2nd gear (better if a/t...)

Just make sure you take it back out of mud and ruts when you get to a firmer surface or you'll wind up the drivetrain as the centre diff will be locked

Well, soft fresh unsticky snow is a bit like sand;)
