United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
My Freelander Auto Biography 2

With just over 36 hours to go until we collect our new car. I thought it was about time to start a proper new Auto Biography. I will close off the original one on the day she is driven away by it's new owner in a couple of weeks.

After nearly 6 1/2 years of Freelander 2 ownership with this 2006 '56' plate HSE TD4, it is time to move on to pastures new and let our old car go on to it's new owners to enjoy.

It will be a very sad to day when she is driven off as the car had been pretty much faultless. But by the time she goes, the new car will be well on it's way to having my own stamp on it.

We originally travelled to Farnell Land Rover in Bradford to buy this :-

A 2013 Freelander 2 Dynamic SD4 Auto. But two big reasons made us change our mind. The paint work was terrible with some bad re-sprayed panels, and we decided that we would miss the extra features that the HSE has. So we bit the bullet and blew the budget!

On this :-

A 2013MY Freelander 2 HSE Lux

In Premium Borolo Black
Ivory Leather
Privacy Glass
Added bonus of a Towbar

This is an Ex Land Rover Management Car

So as soon as the deal was done, I started to place orders here there and everywhere for the parts to make it my own.

So the box's started coming

So what has arrived so far?

Side Mouldings
Side Steps
Mudflaps
Genuine 13 pin electrics.

I will also be fitting my Evoque 20" wheels as soon as I get the car home.

Then in the next few weeks, the DVD system that was in the grey one, will be fitted to the new car. After that, the list in order will be :-

Rear Spoiler
Si4 Twin exit exhaust

So, watch this space and I'll do the updates as they come up!! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Thumbs Up

My new RRS will have to live up to my faultless FL2. Not had any major problems in 18 months of ownership and loved every minute of it. Will be sad to see it go. Sad

I'm sure it will return when the new car arrives! Very Happy

Well we arrived at the dealers to be presented with coffee and Haagen Daz ice cream!! Their fridge was full of it!

So, after making the biggest debit card payment I have ever made and filled in all the paperwork, the salesman presented us with this :-

Anyone else notice the black cloth being scooped off the floor ready to drape over the next car, hope it was clean Whistle

I like the look of the new showrooms and they are always impeccably clean too.
Will be interesting to hear your thoughts on the latest model compared to the old one over the coming weeks Thumbs Up

Haha can't tell the differents between the 2. The climate control in the new models really annoy me, they should have changed them after going to so much effort with the rest of the dash.

Nice looking car, it's a good job you enjoy washing your car, that black won't stay shiney for very long at this time of year.

Landy - I agree, they also should've got rid of the horrible green back light from the steering wheel controls and centre consol. Would've been nice white to match the speedo. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Lovely looking car Mav71, and it looks like your dealer knows how to hand over a car and make it a great experience.

I recently moved from an 07 Freelander to a 2013MY one. I turned up the day before collection to sign stuff and to find mine all grubby in the car park (still in use despite being told it wouldn't be) and on collection no fuel, an extra scratch, one key (other locked in the safe) and an argument over whether an XS comes with a luggage blind!

The difference between the 07 and 13 plate cars is amazing, much, much quieter, brilliant updates in terms of technology (I had a S trim before, no toys at all) and a step forward in terms of perceived quality.

Enjoy the new car, and keep the autobiography story going. The old one is a great read. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red

We even got a full tank of fuel!

Apart from the 120 mile drive home, I have only done a few little trips hear and there this evening, but confidence is high!

I won't be happy until I have done my own little bits on it though to make it my own, and also to do a full detail ready for the winter.

I drove the grey one to the shop this evening, and I am really going to miss it. The new one for sure feels newer, quieter, more advanced, quicker etc.

But the grey one has been in our family for so so long. I know it's only a car but it will be sad. The private plate is off it now, so once it's on the new car it will be like having it back again in a way.

I am getting all sentimental now!!!! Big Cry Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Though the Fl2 is 7yrs old, it's looking better now than it's ever done.

Is there no chance of it staying in the family, no family members who would love to have it? 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

see the big wooden Venetian blind thing hanging from the showroom roof, my mate helped fit those in a local LR dealer, He reckons the dealers have to pay £4000 for them, and they have to have them Shocked At work
