Land Rover specific Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

For those interested, below are the Land Rover specific Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and subcodes/types.
These errors, when appear, are read from various modules (ECUs) by using diagnostic equipments.
The lists are compiled/extracted from the SDD (the Land Rover approved diagnostic software).

Land Rover specific DTC codes
Land Rover specific subcodes/types

For example, a DTC may look like:
P061B-81
This error means:
DTC is P061B, meaning (from DTC file) Internal control module torque calculation performance
And the subcode is 81, meaning (from subcode file) Bus signal/message failure - invalid serial data received

Or:
U3003-16
This error means:
DTC is U3003, meaning (from DTC file) Battery voltage
And the subcode is 16, meaning (from subcode file) General electrical failure - circuit voltage below threshold

Or:
B1D64-87
This error means:
DTC is B1D64, meaning (from DTC file) Left headlamp swivelling motor circuit
And the subcode is 87, meaning (from subcode file) Bus signal/message failure - missing a message

Or:
C2002-62
This error means:
DTC is C2002, meaning (from DTC file) Odometer tampered
And the subcode is 62, meaning (from subcode file) Algorithm based failure - signal compare failure

The letter before each DTC means:
P - Powertrain
B - Body
C - Chassis
U - Network

Thanks Alex Thumbs Up
Majority of us have no reader but to a lot of us it will help to know what the specific codes mean.
Your keyboard must be worn out after that Laughing

England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Santorini Black

Thanks for the Info
I bought a code reader off the internet for about £70.00 its a Bluetooth device that connects to my galaxy s4 with a app called torque, I know its no where near the quality of a garage/dealers device but its already found faults with my nephews Renault Clio, and now while I was sitting the other day with obviously nothing else better to do, I decided to scan the freelander 2.
I found 2 fault codes
P1298- Powertrain (Honda) Electrical load Detector Circuit High Input
P0380- Powertrain Glow Plug/Heater Circuit "A"
Ive no engine management light or anything like that on, just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the problems, are they serious???
Ive also noticed a drop in mpg from about 37.00 to 30.0 could these possibly be linked?
car is not due a service until about august.

Anyone Question Fault code P1298 (Honda) Electric load detector circuit high input.
why does it say Honda and what does the code mean?
could this be linked to my recent MPG drop ?

It says Honda because it's a generic fault code reader and not one specialized for LR.
The code P1298, in LR acceptance according to the list in the first post, means: Injector driver module failure
It would be beneficial if the reader could read the subcode information. It will indicate more exactly the problem.
Anyway, it could be only a glitch or it may be a more serious problem.
My advice: erase the fault codes and monitor for a period of time (a few days) if the code reappear.

Thanks Alex
I've already tried to erase but it comes straight back,
I found this on the net :
" P1298 - IDM failure
Code P1298 is commonly set by low battery voltage. If the battery voltage during cranking drops below 10.5 volts the IDM relay will shut off. Connect a battery charger or jumper battery, verify battery voltage and rerun your tests. Perform all code retrieval tests with a scan tool. If any other codes are present, diagnose and repair these first. If the engine cranks good and only the P1298 code is present, perform troubleshooting for the glow plug system, check for voltage drop or PCM reset during cranking and other possible no start conditions. Finally clear the codes and then turn the key on and off three times, allowing 5 seconds in the on position. Recheck for codes, if P1298 reappears the likely cause is the IDM."
I also have P0380 Glow plug/Heater circuit A fault code as well
Might sound silly but could it be the battery on its way out as I noticed when I put the radio on the other day with the engine switched off it come up on the radio screen after about 20mins that battery was low, or like you say could it be a more serious problem that is causing a noticeable drop in mpg and abit more smoke out the back under hard acceleration that usual. Car seems to run fine no noticeable change in performance etc. etc.

The meaning of the codes, on Land Rover's case, is on the first post. Those two list of codes.
It's no use to check for other meaning(s) on the net as won't be the same. Each manufacturer has the liberty to assign to each code different meaning(s).

If the battery it the original one, then 7 years is more than enough for a car with so many electronics on it.
It may be time for a change. But I don't think that this is the case.

As for the glow plug error, please check the glow plug's system fuses and relay.

Is this injector driver module a part that can be replaced??? if so do you know where its located and what sort of cost am I looking at. ive had it confirmed from a local garage that this is the problem and also is probably linked to my recent drop in mpg and possible extra black smoke out the back.

Verify and change, if necessary, the throttle body.
