Is the Hypoid oil used in the Haldex unit?

Aero, all warranties these days are more of a marketing angle rather than customer care unfortunately, read other forums, lots of woe from other manufacturers with extended warranties and wear and tear issues.
i assume this is for the rear diff,no mention of haldex oil or seals. Rolling Eyes

Have you had a new Diff or was the problem the diff pinion bearing?
You have two lots of gear oil and Garioch had one gear oil and one Haldex oil?

Maybe the Haldex oil that leaked out of yours when the repair was done was replaced with Hypoid oil Shocked

Same symptoms but different repairs seem to have been one, just an observation.

If it makes any of you happier, I had the diff bearings done on mine at 70k.......I think I was one of the first to have this carried out, certainly in the south west region anyway, that was 50k miles back now and it sounds/feels good still after all these miles.

As far as I can make out the problem stemmed from incorrect torque values more than anything else so as time goes by and the later car you find yourself owning, the less the chance there is of you needing your rear diff looking at....seems they learned by their mistakes......and the realisation it was more cost effective to replace the pinion bearings as opposed to the complete differential!

Mine is on 120,000 miles plus now and all is well, if you do have yours rectified you should be good to go for quite some way!

Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Stornoway Grey

I had my rear diff pinion bearing replaced after owning the car for just 2 weeks (70k miles, 07 plate). Went from all quiet to full on whine in a couple of days. Glad I bought it from a garage so it was done on warranty.

If buying an older FL2 I would be very wary of the diff problem occuring again unless it was documented as being changed.
