Still just as bad, also noticed that the offside arm hits the bonnet and has rubbed through the black into the bare metal.

I've tried;

- Vinegar
- Farecla Detox Shampoo
- Glass cleaner
- Concentrated screen wash
- All purpose cleaner

Then even put the old wipers back on. Just the same, I give up..... Censored 2013 FL2 - Black Edition Auto

When I had the Disco 3 there was problems with the wipers juddering, it was the passengers side I had the problem with. I ended up trading for a Fl2 so never got an answer too the problem. IIRC it was a possible design fault with the arm. Have a search on DISCO3.CO.UK through old posts maybe of some help. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I know someone who also did Rain X'd his screen after fitting new blades, he used cellulose thinners, followed by white spirit and also replaced the blades. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Might have to try Mr.Spirit in the morning then, it's got to go in anyway for a new passenger door seal (this will be the 2nd failed seal) and the wiper arm rubbing at the bonnet.......

For some owners this is the harsh reality of owning a Land Rover. I've been lucky my D3 had all the problems, the other 4 have been fine. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I had similiar problems with juddering and smearing after replacing original wipers with a set of Bosch ones from halfords.
Tried RainX, Vinegar, Polish and even Claying it.
In the end I got the dealer to replace them at 2nd service with OEM ones (even though they were only 3 month old) and the problem went away - cant tell you how good it is to have quiet, mostly smear free wipers again.

Well, I've solved the problem. Knowing that my windscreen was the cleanest in the land I knew it was either wiper or mechanism related, I had already changed my screen wash from one with 'rain guard' added.

Mechanism wise, there is a little play in both arms, and in heavy rain the offside arm catches the bonnet, but nothing major. That will get sorted when they do the door seal.

So.....took a flyer and put another brand new set of Michelin Hybrid wipers on. Problem solved. Appears the screen wash 'rain guard' has affected the blades on the previous two sets of wipers.

Just need to order a 24" blade from Steve on Monday as I'm running a 22" & 20" instead of the 24"/20". Silent now, gets a bit wibbly with a full force hose but that's to be expected.

So, as already mentioned, on a freelander, avoid 'rain guard' and all other associated 'repellents'!! It costs you two sets of wipers!!

The offending article, along with Autobrite Repel;

Has de icer and rain guard additives. BIG NO NO :censored:

Mines due for new wipers. Will probably get some Valeo ones and see how it goes, if not will have OEM ones fitted.

Thanks, I have heard that the Bosch ones aren't great on the FL2. Am I wrong?

The Michelin ones are cheaper than the LR ones, if they perform better and last longer you've got nothing to lose. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
