ive still yet to see a photo of one with the roof up.

I quite like it for what it is, a 4x4 convertible with a sought after namebadge, but that sits up higher than your BMW/Audi/Merc soft tops.

would I buy one ?.............. no, because im not hairdresser and would look like im having a serious mid life crisis Rolling with laughter

There's a top-up pic here: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1100826...le-preview

The top looks very ordinary - safe to say it looks better (a lot better) with the top down.

From today's Financial Times -
JLR wants to release 50 new or updated products over the next five years and plans to open a new plant in Slovakia as part of an attempt by chief executive Ralf Speth to catch up with his former employer, BMW, and the other large German premium carmakers.

JLR does not publicly disclose long-term sales goals, but it is thought to want to achieve at least 1m in annual deliveries by the end of the decade — which would be about half the annual volumes made by the likes of Audi, Daimler and BMW. It shipped about 460,000 cars in 2014.

I hope there is something like a decent new Freelander in those 50 products. Shocked 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I don't think it looks that bad with the roof up either. However I will reserve proper judgement until after I have seen one in the flesh. It looks like an Audi A3 convertible on a mild dose of steroids IMO.

starting price is definitely way too steep though so we will have to see what the price settles down to once the initial models are expanded on.

I really like the Evoque, but I wont be buying a convertible one regardless of cost.

From what I can see, the vast majority of ladies like the EV CC than blokes... I wouldn't own one, but it think it will do well here - can't wait to see the first Instagram post of a 'roof down' creek flood Smile

I've never understood the attraction of convertibles - cold, draughty, uncomfortable things. Wind in your face, flies in your teeth, and exhaust fumes all around. Give me a nice, air-conditioned tin box any day! Convertible drivers in this country always look rather sad, wrapped up in thick overcoats, scarves and hats just so they can drive their pose-mobiles with the top down. I even saw one up here top down with snow still on the ground! Why?

Evoque ... hideous thing!

I used to think that until the DS came along, Now I realise that the Evoque could have looked so much worse! I still wouldn't buy one though - too small and impractical for me.

If the convertible you saw was a black Audi A4 heading to wards Scotland on the M6 on the weekend of the England Scotland 6 nations match in 2012, it was me. I had to drive a few miles to let the snow blow off the roof and and to warm the roof up, but it was fine at 70 mph with the air deflector up, so no draughts. Heating on high, hat and coat on, warmth no problem. Why? Because it was a nice day and I could. I enjoy being outdoors and can deal with the cold. How many Morgan's do you see with the roof up? Those guys just get wet and wear a flying jacket.

The evoque convertible looks like it has very little room in the back seats, unless the one I saw had the front seats all the way back. I won't be getting one, as there is no room for the sprog in the back, or more importantly, mountain bikes.

Gav.

No, it was a BMW going through a Pennine village.

Saw something similar last week - a convoy of three convertible BMWs, two top down and one sensible. (Well, not entirely sensible - he still bought a convertible BM!) Again, snow on the ground and temperature around freezing.

Living up in the Pennines I get to spend many hours out in sub-zero temperatures and snow, and will quite happily walk for hours in the snow. But that's properly outdoors - in the car, no thanks!
